Random Post #53 (Lilian Art Update) (Patreon)

Lilian is currently (outside of the player and Nihil) the oldest character without a little art update, and in my eyes, it really shows. So, here we go. I tweaked Lilian’s art (I did not redraw her from scratch) to be more in line with the newer character and will slightly rework her character in-game to make her a bit more melancholic and depressed.

Let me give a quick rundown of what was changed. 

• Face looks more mature. Back when I made Lilian I just wasn’t good at all at drawing more mature faces. Also, her expressions look good now.

• Her ears are now more animal-like and found atop her head, rather than being a weird mix of animal ears and human ears. (She's supposed to be a beaver girl, but that's not really important for her character at all.)

• She has very so slightly larger hips and her dress is a bit smaller. Her ankles can be seen now! Lewd! 

• She’s now a seamstress/tailor and has some tools in her pocket rather than a… piece of wood and a rock (?). Her fingers are all hurt and bandaged from working while sleep-deprived and messing it up.

I thought it would be good to give Lilian a bit more personality and goals, and as I’m currently working on Nameless’s quest, she might make an appearance there and get a little bit of exposition. Maybe.

As for her personality, she’s now considerably more depressed and at a breaking point of her sanity, as she feels miserable working all day every day to make enough money to pay for her little daughter’s treatment while knowing she might die at any moment. She really, really needs a friend in her life, but because she has to work so badly, she doesn’t have the time to have close friends, and her tendencies to overwork herself to the point of feeling miserable has caused her to become a bit cynical and passive-aggressive toward people with better life conditions than her or people giving her “charity.” Other than that, she’s still the same old Lilian who apologizes for everything, with very low self-esteem.

I do hope I might have some time to explore her story a little bit. Old Lilian was boring, but the new Lilian has the potential to be a great tragic character/character to be saved.
