Heya! Sorry for the slow month. Things didn't really go as planned. I try my hardest to have everything done for a monthly release, but this time shit hit the fan for me. I couldn't even post about my thoughts on Lene's quest. Well, better late than never.

Soo. Lene, huh? Not gonna lie. I never expected her to be the most popular character here. But now that we finally reached her third quest, I really wanted to make something good.

Honestly, I was unsure how I would wrap up her story. If I could, I would like 3 other quests to really flesh out everything, but things being how they are, I needed to end things here. Lene's story is all about her being rejected in society for being what she calls a freak and her vengeance for the person who made her said freak.

My original outline for Lene's quest was that Lene and the player would go to the witch's tower, and after not finding her there, they would take one experiment that would beg them to be saved. After the witch found out that her (perfect) experiment was taken, she would go on a rampage and attack the village to get her back. And after a destructive fight, the witch would be defeated, and everyone would live happily ever after.

The thing is, my dumb brain forgot about it, and… well, both the "perfect" experiment and the tower are already in-game and are being used on something that has no link to Lene, and there is no witch in sight. Of course, I could've done a lot of stuff from here, like the witch comes back and whatnot, but because the tower and Peach aren't connected to Lene's earlier quests, I couldn't link them, because the player might as well not have reached the tower when he starts Lene third quest.

So I've decided on taking another route. Dropping the vengeance aspect and leaning on the "being accepted" part. (Or Lene realizing that she is already accepted). Now, that was fine as an idea, but how to not make that feel and sound like bullshit? I don't know. I hope I did a good job getting everything across.

After the end of this quest, there is still one loose end. I'm not going to talk too much about it, but after completing the quest, you'll be left with a letter in your inventory that'll be used some other time.

maybe make the quest a surprise appreciation party for Lene? like the protagonist is tasked with getting everyone involved and then distracting Lene on a fake quest while they get the tavern all nice. the impetus could maybe be finding out her birthday in one of the journals and realizing it's around the corner. you could have each of the characters have an interaction with lene at the party showing how much they love her and appreciate her work protecting the town, even giving gifts. then afterward she takes protag home for after-party fun. it would be a great way of developing her, and you could maybe even have her interactions with others change to be a bit friendlier after completing it.

Ideas: * Maybe the witch does come back but it's not a climactic battle but a lot of anger, arguing and eventually tearful hugs. A nice little ender for Lene and maybe even link in the other sisters/experiments as well. Perhaps her scientific impassive nature gave way as she saw them grow up from afar to a more motherly way? It's that tear jerking redemption angle. * Perhaps the quest could be a two way pathing? We know that she is in the village, but her sisters are in that house elsewhere. Perhaps the MC can face a dilemma of pushing her either to the village accepting her, or her family being those sisters and experiments that reside in or around that house. This has that dynamic where the player can push her either way, towards believing she belongs in the village or ultimately with Filth, #62, Peach, Calliga etc as a fellow sister/experiment. * Perhaps in being accepted she can be more 'active' with the girls in the village? But with permission? (This one will get shot down 100% but I'll suggest it anyway) * Perhaps something similiar to the quest with the dragongirl where the village and/or her sisters all show up to show she is accepted. Perhaps Lene goes to clear her head and you have to find her? I'll edit this if I come up with any more ideas...
