i feel like they just didnt have the math to make it 12 cuz unless jaehyeong was also supposed to have 2 exs but i dont think so no rumors i heard of like that but i think it was just odd numbered cuz in order to bring in another person there would have to be 2 in a short time period or 1 in a short period if it was jaehyeongs ex either way the time period dont make sense just not enoiugh time to get cuz the time in japan seemed shorter than previous jeju visits this entire season seemed rushed hopefully we get back to a way we did in exchange 2 next season or even 3 jeju was good to me they had plenty of time for stuff to go down this season nothing really happened cuz they were in such a big hotel and not forced to be around as much need to get back to the old vibe where it forced them to be close creates good drama too hopefully they hear the complaints like singles inferno seem to have heard and get it back to more real cast members this seasons cast was too bland and seemed like they were goin for too many singles inferno style visuals which exchange isnt its more cozy and real or should be like previous seasons thats why we liked it so much it was more real and cozy the drama didnt feel forced and get more long term couples instead of thesew short relationships with no strong chemistry

There definitely was a rumor started in the Korean forums about LHJ's second ex to appear in Japan, and also came from a source that leaked 2 exes and that their trip this time would be to Japan rather than Jeju. From LJH's reaction as you said he didn't look that surprised but also he is very monotone with his reactions, so it might just be his personality. Another thing i noticed, after having re-watched season 2 and also why the last 5 episodes felt so much more "action packed" is the fact that since the exes hardly interacted in their time in Seoul, there was a burst of emotion which were bottled up in Jeju, which led to a lot of change in hearts and so much more emotional and raw. But in Season 4, since the exes began already having longer discussions even before the Japan trip, it paved the way for a reunion much more easily. So i guess everything has its own pros and cons. I think the 2 exes concept was executed very well from the production team, specially the reveal. But as for the concept itself, i feel was not as exciting as i thought it would be as HJ literally had not intention of getting back with SY, which kinda only made me feel slightly disheartened for SY and that's all. Maybe people with more involvement would be better to actually make the catfish feel more like a game changer. Also, i dont know if you guys would like the idea, but maybe throw in 2 singles in there along with 5 ex couples. Things then would definitely be shaken more. As in this Season, YY was practically single as she didnt have any feelings for her EX and for LJH, he was just a tad to laid back and should have pursued JH like Hyungyu pursued Haeeun. Might have been more interesting.

That's true, LJH's reaction is not a strong indicator. Yeah Season 2 everything was bottled up until Jeju, where confrontations happened much earlier in Season 4. Honestly though, I feel like SY accidentally killed any chance of him getting back together with her when he said he felt "freedom" lol which was just a poor choice of words from him, but at the end of the day I feel like they're too different and want different things so they could just not reconcile their priorities in a relationship. But I really did like the 2 ex concept. LJH was a bit too laid back yeah while pursuing Jihyeon, but it's also tough when you join after the initial start I think. But 2 singles in a mix of ex's is also a very novel idea hahaha I would like that!

I feel like they technically had the same amount of time, but the travel to Japan did make it harder for them to have outside time I guess? Although you can argue that they had the same amount of dates, I think the dates just didn't get as much screen time honestly. I don't know how I necessarily feel about the vibes having to be cozy and friendly, because it feels like everybody would be too afraid to pursue someone that they like, afraid of hurting someone else in the group. (That's what it felt like in season 3) Season 2 had 2 new couples mainly because of HyunGyu/NaEon who were just 100% not getting back together (essentially the way JaeHyeong and Yun Nyeong were) so I wouldn't say it's the realness or coziness that created the new couples.
