Hey everyone!

We're back for part 2 of our Ages of the Vale collection. Thanks so much to everyone who sent us kind comments and messages both here and on Discord about part 1! We're really glad you all liked this concept so much.

So if you haven't yet, please check out part 1! That post will get you up to speed with what this series is all about.

Following on from the devastating dragon assault where part 1 finished, the resiliant villagers decided to turn their ramshackle tavern into a proper inn, adding a real interior and a 2nd storey to the building.

Further on in history they decide to expand again, this time excavating their cellar for storing casks of beer and ale.

Again, we've tried to create a ton of variations that can be used for a whole host of adventures, encounters and side-quests, such as:

  • A dragon festival has gripped the village and things are getting out of hand, one of the ale barrels has come alive and is tormenting the villagers,
  • A dryad comes takes possession of a tree next to the tavern but it's tree is later destroyed in a storm,
  • A wicked fog rolls over the Vale and mysterious footprints are discovered whenever it passes,
  • A demonic beast takes over the well and poisons the water supply,
  • The dead rise from their graves as skeletons and zombies,
  • Giant spiders come from the nearby woods and start webbing up the whole village,
  • Gallows are being setup for two criminals but the party aren't sure if they're guilty after all,
  • A rip in time separates the inside and the outside of the inn,
  • The mayflower festival has come and the party are asked to be the judges but the consequences aren't quite as they seem,
  • The local lord has hiked up taxes halting the expansion of the inn and the peasants are starting a revolt,
  • A blight has caused the local crops to wither and a famine grips the village,
  • A host of rats and the rat king have been unearthed from the cellar excavation causing an awful famine,

We hope these ideas and more become obvious when you see the details we've added to all of the maps and variations. And that you can surprise your players with them each time they return to town to rest up! :)

Oh and like last time we've added a bunch of extras for all patrons!

Accompanying this release, Mr. Music d20 has kindly provided a brilliant and festive track with a looping variant which you can play to accompany these maps. And for those that don't know, we're starting a new project together called Borough Bound, if you haven't checked it out, please do!

The Griffon's Saddlebag has kindly provided two new magic items, the Aged Goodberry Wine and the Dryadleaf! We suggest having your party help the inn owners to gather the ingredients for making the wine. And using the Dryad Sighting variation to accompany the Dryadleaf item.

Dagonzo Adventures has created 3 awesome new monster stat blocks based on these maps, the Dragon Barrel, the Rat King and the Fungi Dryad. Each of these monsters has an accompanying variant and token that they were designed for.

As always, if you enjoyed any of this fun collaboration content, please support the creator's work!

Plans on doing a snow one?

BeeGneiss

The variations are so rich! I could see a lot of different start of campaign stories coming from these

BeeGneiss

just downloaded the extras, griffon saddlebag's item images don't include the descriptions/stats, are they inspirational, or is there something missing?

Heiner de Wendt

Seriously, this isn't fair. So many beautiful and amazing variations, I can't use them all! But one thing is certain, I love the dragon festival so much, I will HAVE to use that one. And I'm absolutely in love with the living dragon barrel. I'm even considering to not just make this a monster, but a long-term NPC. Amazing work, amazing extras!

Heiner de Wendt

Yep, noticed that, too. I found this: https://www.reddit.com/r/TheGriffonsSaddlebag/comments/fi108j/the_griffons_saddlebag_aged_goodberry_wine_potion/ and this: https://www.reddit.com/r/TheGriffonsSaddlebag/comments/bmkrti/the_griffons_saddlebag_dryadleaf_wondrous_item/ Would be cool to have it in the package, though!

Ogo Sylla

Love all these variations!! Beautiful work as always

Will this come as a Foundry VTT module? if so, when? I really really love this.

czepeku

We have someone who helps us with the Foundry modules and its up to their schedule really, so ASAP is the answer but I can't give you anything more specific unfortunately.

There was a snow one in part 1 and will be in part 3. After 21 variations for this pack we decided that'd be enough!

I have yet to download the maps, but is it possible to swap out the various buildings in the Time Tear Map? I would love to be able to have the map outside and inside the bubble be swappable, to allow for far more interesting variations. The adventure could have the party approach the bubble on a cold stormy night and enter the bubble and appear on a sunny afternoon, or be enter the time anomaly to relive the tragedy of the dragon attack from the previous post

czepeku

Without making every combination myself, i'm not really sure how i'd go about that.
