Introduction

Hey everyone! The Foundry VTT content has now been moved to the $10+ tiers. We've updated a lot of the modules, fixed issues and also made the module names clearer and more consistent. We've also added Moulinette Cloud integration for those who use that. Expect any updates and fixes to be a lot quicker from now on.

Compatibility

Some patrons have pointed out that our maps have compatibility warnings in Foundry VTT, this is just because we've set up the modules so that the maps will work with both old and new versions of Foundry, as recommended by the Foundry team. This won't affect how the map modules work in any way.

Installation Step-by-Step

1. Copy the JSON link below of the map pack you want to use.

2. Go to Add-On Modules in Foundry VTT.

3. Select the Install Module button on the bottom left.

4. Paste the Manifest URL at the bottom of the pop-up window and click “Install”.

5. After it has installed, launch your game and go to your game settings and click “Manage Modules”.

6. Find the new map pack, click the checkbox, and select "Save Module Settings" to activate.

7. Go to your Compendiums, and the new map pack will be under the Scene section.

8. To use a new scene, click on the compendium, right click on a map and select “Import”.

9. Enjoy!

Is anyone else having issues with the Forbidden Gates while using version 10 on Foundry VTT? I'm not sure why this map is just completely black and all its other variants as well.

Hi Marc, unfortunately not. That would be hundreds of gigabytes worth of files which would just slow down everyones systems if installed in one go. We tend to suggest that people install them as and when they need the maps rather than just installing all of them.

Hi! I am new to the patreon and am trying to install some of them modules, but it is saying that I have to purchase them through the Bazaar. Am I doing something wrong?

For those like me having trouble getting rid of the hidden special characters that show up as little dots when you paste them into the console at the final step: Follow the steps above ^ to generate the list inside your web browser console. href="https://www.dropbox...json?dl=1" href="https://www.dropbox...json?dl=1" Then right-click and "save as". Open that file and copy the whole contents. Open up VS code (or really anything that lets you search and replace with regex). Open up the search page (MacOS is Cmd+F) (Windows is Ctrl+F). Switch over to the "find and replace" option. Make sure the "Use regular expression" option is ON. (Linked image of the button but there is only like 3 buttons in the fine and replace window so just mouse over and read the tooltips) https://blog.devsense.com/bl-content/uploads/pages/0e20bf10c9e18d277dd9363999a08a7f/enable-regexp-vscode.png Paste in: \u200b As into the "Find" input, and make sure the replace input is empty. Then just click the replace all button, or click your Enter key a bunch of times. And presto you no longer have the hidden "non breakable space" characters and can paste them into the Foundry console without issue. On MacOS to open the dev console for the Foundry app simply have the app pull up, go to the very top left of your screen and click "Foundry Virtual TableTop" and click "Toggle Developer Tools". BONUS POINTS: To add a comma at the end of each URL use this regex find and replace: Find: ^(.*)(\n|$) Replace: $1,$2 Make sure to remove the comma of the final url, since the last element in a list/array aren't supposed to have a comma. Hi, you need to use Import Wizard on Forge. You click on My Foundry - Summon Import Wizard, choose zip/folder and click Analyze. After a second you'll get info that module was found and at the bottom there's a tick box 'Do not install from Bazaar and import this package as a custom package. You mark it and click on Import All. After that just follow instructions from point 5.

Hi William! Unfortunately we were hoping we wouldn't have to update every module individually again since we had updated them all manually for v10 but Ryan has completed these now and they should all work fine for any version from 9-11.

I'm currently having issues with "Temple of the Couatl Interior"; The link and everything will install but when I try to import it while in the game, there's no maps or anything inside to import.

When I try to install the palace guard chambers via the JSON link it says that I do not have permission

Medieval Jail JSON does not work, as it errors out and cannot install. I can install other JSONs just fine however.

I'm fairly certain Version 11 is not compatible with some of the Module based maps. For instance, I re-downloaded Foundry but as version 10 and Medieval Jail was implemented just fine. Just finished a session yesterday with it.

I assume the section headline "ALL MODULES BELOW THIS REQUIRE FOUNDRY V9.0 FOR LIGHTING TO WORK CORRECTLY" is a bit outdated and implies that Foundry 10 also works and only foundry 8 and downwards is not supported? right? :D

Hi John, That's 4000+ maps including walls, lighting and everything else so we'd recommend finding the maps you'd like at our website https://www.czepeku.com and then just installing the modules you currently need instead. Otherwise that's a lot of used up hard drive space and a ton of memory being used in Foundry too!

I'm not able to install a number of modules through Forge. Slum District, War Room Exterior and Secret Sailor Lair to name a few. I get the error message, "Failed to install module: You are not authorized to install this package. Please purchase the package from the Bazaar." This might not be on you, but Forge instead. I'll take it up with them too.

The Abandoned Mine Entrance module comes up empty. Seems to be an issue with the module itself as I have redownloaded it a few times to make sure the error is not on my end.

Hello, sorry to bother, but I'm currently having issues with 3 map packs in FoundryVTT: Cthonic Lighthouse, Medieval Jail, and Secret Sailor Lair. I was able to install the modules just fine alongside 2 others, and the other 2 maps had no difficulty with importing and setting up in the VTT. For the 3 listed above, there appear to either be issues with the packs or perhaps I'm missing some module incompatibilities (though I doubt it, since the others work fine). The listed map names in the compendiums are jumbled and illegible like zalgo text, do not have images next to them like the working 2 compendiums, and the maps themselves do not display correctly and are missing textures / walls / are greyed out as if in light fog of war. Is this a known issue, or should I look harder on my end to see what I'm doing wrong?

Is there a trick I'm missing here? I followed all of the instructions and the "Scenes" compendium is empty with no content. I installed age of vales 1 and crossroads. Figured it out. The install DOES NOT work with the Compendium Folders module. Is there a fix for this?

For everyone that has the same problem, it does work. You have to download the files and import their respective folder through the Import Wizard, while making sure that you tick the box "Do not install from the Bazaar and import this package as a custom package". Trying to install the modules directly through the Foundry VTT app blocks import if it is available on the Bazaar, that's why you have to go through the Wizard

Hi. There is a section that says "ALL MODULES BELOW THIS REQUIRE FOUNDRY V9.0 FOR LIGHTING TO WORK CORRECTLY". Does that mean they don't work in current versions (i.e. V11), or that it has to be AT LEAST V9 to work? I don't want to try to install one to test it in case it messes something up. TIA.

Heads up that it seems like a handful of the ZIP links are slightly off, and instead of being the version that when you click them it will download the zip instantly, they just take you to the dropbox page (or alternatively, if that's what you wanted, all the other links are wrong). Hi, are there any plans to use a single module with download capabilities rather than having a huge number of individual modules? It's extremely clunky and feels very primitive compared to other similar products. I really do love your content, I just wish it was easier to use!

As much as that seems like a good idea (and I agree there needs to be a way to clean it up better), I'm guessing there's a problem with being able to keep it up to date without allowing people to subscribe for one month and get perpetual access to the whole catalog. Plus people who only want one or two would have to download the whole thing, which would strain both ends of the bandwidth.

Modules can be restricted to only be able to be downloaded/updated with an active patreon subscription. I've seen multiple projects use it, one that is best is theripper93. You just need to implement the patreon integration with foundry.

Why provide zip files for all of them if they don't work? I downloaded and unzipped all the provided zip files above and then copied them into my foundry data/modules folder. However, they all have invalid module errors, the name inside the module.json doesn't match the folder name the zipped contents are in so every one of these zip files need to be renamed to match the name in the module.json. Why provide them if they don't work? Downloading dozens or hundreds of module.json files one at a time doesn't work well either since they all have the same name. I also don't understand why your instructions above say to download the json links but then the next step is to paste the manifest url into Foundry. You have to open the json file to get that manifest URL. Why not just provide the url to copy paste directly, or name the folders appropriately? I'm hoping I'm doing something wrong, but it seems like a lot of trouble to get this to work.

Orc Mess Hall isn't working correctly, either the json or zip. It contains all the map files, but in Foundry each map is referencing the wixia maps and all that is visible is the lighting effects.

If you right click the JSON hyper link and click copy link address then paste that into where it says manifest URL in foundry that will download the map module.

Your Foundry JSONs for Version 12 are not working in maps or scenes - if you try to install them via JSON, they appear to unpack in Foundry, but they do not successfully install.

Hey there, I have found an issue with the modules for version 12. Whenever I install the modules for the maps. I can import them from the compendium, but the maps wont load as the background image. I have rechecked the files path and found out, that the modul uses the id as the path, while the background image is using the name property of the pack item in the json. If you change the path accordingly, the map will show up correctly. So to fix this the modul would have to be updated to set the correct image path. Hope this helps.

It looks like the manifest.json file for the problem maps has a link to itself instead of an actual file download to the Dropbox ZIP or something.

Hi Dee! Yes we decided to remove the zip option purely because the zips were regularly causing install errors for people. If you really do want to download them still if you click each zip link, the zips are linked in the 'download' section :)

Hey man Im not one of the devs but Ive had this happen a few time - a fix ive found is to have the map with the animations open, then you can just go into your downloads (if youve downloaded the files as well) find the corresponding image file and import it as the background in your map configuration, the animations will still work as well

This is such an underwhelming system. I went for the 10$ support tier hoping to be able to seemlessly use the maps without a lot of manual efforts (check out what FA Battlemaps are doing) but if it's just installing a new module for every map !!! this is absolutely insane and nearly as annoying as creating the scene manually. Your maps are awesome so you probably don't need a great module to express your talents, but yikes, this really deserves better.

They have only the demo and then the rest of the maps are the maps from the mid-air dragon set instead of the airships. EDIT: the zip has them in a folder its just the JSON that doesn't seem to have them.

Technically the module is complete then. Of course I would be very happy to have those other variants in the module too :)

Hi Chris, the JSON should install the exact same ZIP. Unfortunately asset packs don't tend to translate too well in Foundry so it essentially just adds them within the module as a folder of air ships. I hope that helps!

None of the lights in the Grand Hunter's House maps seem to be working. In the fire version of the map, all the lights are all there but they have their bright and dim radius set to zero. Same thing also happened with the Medusa Dungeon. Still super happy with everything and its just a bit more work to switch them all on, but something to look out for.

I am using v9.0, so I just checked. In my Wednesday campaign world where I used this map the lighting doesn't work (I already rebuilt it though and damn Ryan is a hard worker! That fire map is intense!), but in the file for my Thursday campaign the maps actually work fine. The strange thing is they both use the same modules and settings (Thursday is just a copy of Wednesday) so it must just be a problem with the world. Maybe something broke in it during the update. Whatever the case I can fix that on my end by moving the important bits over to a clean world for my Wednesday group :). Sorry if this was a bother at all. I think you are all marvellous!

Hi! Responding here cause I just figured that out and it work for med. This isn't in Foundry itself but is in Forge (if you're hosting it there). If you back out of your game and go to Forge's Bazaar to install via the manifest URL (same instructions as above), you'll see the tick box they're referring to.

Hi Hizeru, You can simply drop the Foundry zip into your Foundry Folders - User Data, Modules, then paste the folder in! Otherwise, you can copy the download link into the 'install module' box on the add-on modules menu within Foundry VTT.

Hi! Temple of the Medusa seems to be having issues loading in assets past 01a/01b after import. Viewing the scene, you see nothing but the gray background. Tried reinstalling and messing with module settings. Any idea if this is a clientside issue? I'm running version 9 build 269, dnd5e 1.6.3 if that helps.

In case someone wants to get all the links into a text file: - Open the developer console of your browser (Chrome: F12) - Open the tab "Console" - Copy + paste the following command: "$x("//a[text()='JSON']/@href").forEach(function(element) { console.log(element) })" (what does it do? Select all links that have the text "JSON" and return the href attribute- in this attribute you'll find the link. Last but not least: Write it into your console log) - right-click on the output and select "save as..." The output will be saved as a text file, now you can copy + paste this into a text file and copy + paste it into Foundry. If you don't trust me, have a look at "xpath" and see for yourself what it does :) Cheers o/ edit: Could be that there is an encoding issue when copying the files. In that case you've to to do search and replace "://" and "/" in your text file. OpenOffice displays the encoding issue with a gray background.

To anyone still trying to do this and is an idiot like me wondering why none of the links work, make sure to paste them as plain text in whatever doc you're using. Word/google docs works fine. No replacing anything needed.

Sorry! This is a fairly common error when installing them using Forge. There's a box you can tick to avoid downloading it from the Bazaar itself. That should fix the problem!
