I honestly dont expect for the Targaryens to have an easy time in Essos. Conquering it would be much harder. In Essos everyone rich enough is basically a king. For all of Westeros being poorer it is easier to conquer and hold because its a feudal society. The Essosi will try every dirty trick imaginable they have experience in killing Dragonlords. So espect massive amount of chaos for a cenrtuy until there is a stable rule.

Aren’t the Faceless Men based in Essos? If I recall correctly, they have quite the experience in killing Dragonlords.

And so the Targaryens had to accept that fire may not burn a dragon, but lightning definitly does. Especially when comes from a angered goddess.
