Thank you Miles, this is the best Christmas present ever!!!

Oscar WN

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Lynx

will the music be on the google folder?

Ken Kopin

My face when I find out from this video that the Boston Silverline doesn't use Trollybusses anymore. :(

David Honan

I probably won't be able to watch this whole amazingness in one sitting, but I'm excited for it!

David Honan

I saw that in the preview and definitely appreciate that each route has its own segment. Happy holidays!

Joshua S Horvath

Looking forward to watching this. Living in Dayton I’m totally fascinated with trolley buses. I’m guessing you didn’t ride very many of the routes in Dayton because of the maintenance work going on of late. Trolleys only came back to the 7 route a few months ago for example.

Eric Rivas

Well there goes my night... 🍕🚎

Miles in Transit

Are they on the 7 now too??? We only got to do actual trolleybuses on the 4 when we were there, but the video claims they're only on the 4 and 8...guess it's already out of date!

Jeremy

Kathy is so awesome!

Joshua S Horvath

Yeah, the 7 is a standard trolley bus route, but they haven’t been running regularly since about summer of 2022 because of of wire maintenance work and changing the southern terminus of the route.

Miles in Transit

Yup, we rode each of the standard trolleybus routes, just in diesel. I'll have to add a text thing mentioning that the 7's back too!

alexandra h

3 HOURS?? Really looking forward to watching this one after work!!

Joshua S Horvath

I think there are a few other trolley bus routes that aren’t currently being served by trolleys because of all the wire work being done. The Dayton RTA got a good chunk of change from the infrastructure law for trolley bus stuff.

Joshua S Horvath

I think that’s all of them. It seemed like for a while the trolleys were only running on the 4, I think. I’ve been seeing them all the time on the 7 for good couple months or so now.

Corey

Well... there goes my night.

Henry Lees

Please respond to my Instagram, DM or at least read it

Austin Thomas

So excited for my wife to question why she married me for the next three hours.

Colby S

Miles and Jackson, thank you both. Watching your travels and travails really is a highlight of the week. Can’t wait to enjoy this video and learn a few things. Merry Christmas to all in the Miles In Transit Extended Universe!

Henry Lees

I'm Trying to get into Transit youtubing and I wanted miles's input on a video.

Juliana

Wow, those are some trolley-ass buses.

HiImMikey

Omg I started pounding the keyboard before I realized you filmed this ages ago! I thought you, Jackson, Jack, and I were gonna be 24 homies!🥺 But wait! The 24 Diviz is still running and y’all missed so many good things to do on it! Eggs? Pancakes? Video games? Loose bar cats? Spaghetti? Sad song karaoke at a gay bar?! Maybe come back or whatever! <3 Edit: adding to the list: - sizzling Japanese curry - two (2) UnSafeway stores - phallic cookies - more mid pizza (Hole in the Wall is high mid) - west coast sandwiches - bird jail / store/ hotel?!?! - PCC turnaround with Wizard of Oz vibes

Max

This is awesome! I'm sad about the decline of trolleybusses here in boston, though the removal of the lines on Mass Ave in Cambridge I believe is actually enabling more options in the full rebuild of the Porter - Harvard segment, since it removes a fire ladder conflict and objection. also, the redacted redacted pontification was a feature by which my enjoyment was compounded

Will

Hi Miles! To answer your end-of-video question, I think my fav video this year was probably either getting from Cleveland to Detroit via Canada, or the VIA trip to Halifax (guess I'm in a Canada mood...); that said, I have a soft spot for all the collab videos (love the Great Race series, love the Least Used series), so thanks for shedding light on unique transit systems/features out there! I can feel the time and care that goes into these, and am excited to see what's cooking next year!

Will

Oh yeah, also wanted to shout out the LA area buses video, that was an exhilarating ride!

I_like_planes_and_cities

Well, perfect I have something to watch as I fly halfway across the country.

Miles in Transit

Ooh, I love both those Canada videos too, thank you! Definitely more Least Useds to come next year, and hopefully a Great Race too...?

Miles in Transit

I think it's allowing for some new bike lanes, yeah...as a non-biker I'd rather have the trolleybuses, but I dunno...

Max

Currently Mass Ave is fairly dangerous with the level of traffic and the door zone bike lane. If it were up to me, we'd toss the parking and get both safe bike infrastructure and the trolley busses back

Victor Rousseau Trépanier

amazing video ! I personally got to ride my first trolleybus in Vancouver this year, the only one in the country. I was excited to see them as I didn't knew beforehand that Vancouver had some. My favourite moment of the year was in Ontario when you got to see a guy putting an ATV in the train!

Frank Maynard

A magnum opus! Sat down with a bag of Snyder’s and watched the whole thing. 1/ Meijer, pronounced “meyer”, is a chain of superstores (grocery, general merchandise, gas) based in Grand Rapids, Mich., with locations across the midwest. In Metro Detroit, Meijer stores function as bus termini, including the 305 which runs between two Meijer stores. 2/ Have been visiting Dayton for years but haven’t ridden any of the trolley buses, only a shuttle bus from the parking lot behind the abandoned Sears in one of the opening shots over to Hara Arena on Shiloh Springs road where the Dayton Hamvention was held. The arena, already dilapidated, was demolished after it was hit by a tornado. I’ve seen the trolley buses running around town though, and I need to ride one next time I go. 3/ The City Nerd reference was killa. 4/ Favorite videos this year? I like the least-used Amtrak station series, and any of the ones including Michigan - the Cleveland-to-Detroit-via-Ontario trip, the Wolverine (which I ride often) and the Pere Marquette, and Detroit’s excuse for downtown transit. But I think I enjoyed most the lengths you went to ride the Budd RDC in northern Ontario. Oh, and the music! Jackson is insanely talented and you and your friends’ songs add a special quirkiness. Happy new year and here’s to more great adventures!

spenc.ern

christmas came early :D

Frank Maynard

Forgot to add: 5/ The cartesian method of slicing a round pizza into square pieces seems to be a peculiar Ohio thing, as opposed to the “normal” polar or radial method of wedge-shaped slices found just about everywhere else. I thought it was just Donato’s that did it that way but evidently it’s more widespread. Note that this applies to circular pies, while square or rectangular pizzas (the canonical version bring Detroit style) are cut into rectangles.

JJRol

Rewatching this video (I have too much time on my hands), but that comment about "Wouldn't residents prefer a trolleybus at 7:30am on a Sunday as opposed to a diesel bus" is so true, why do people oppose trolleybuses?????? Like, the wires aren't even that obtrusive at all... Also, the fact that the Dayton bus runs at 7:30am on a Sunday is pretty amazing in itself. Great video (even better on second watch).

Coburg Pigeon Updates

As someone who lives in Melbourne I'm rarely ever jealous of any other cities street running transit. But I kinda wish we had some trolley buses 😔

Jon Ross

The CityNerd reference, the songs for each route, just brilliant. Thank you!

Dani Baronofsky

Lesser YouTubers would’ve broken this up into 10 minute videos and drip fed this to us for several months. This is why you get my patreon dollars.

David Birkam

Jackson's commentary on the Meijer candle selection got my Midwestern energy tingling. As others have pointed out it gets pronounced as my-er. In Michigan we commonly add an 's to make it my-er's. Growing up it was open 24 hours and we would spend many a late night hours farting around and sneaking snacks from the now extinct bulk bins to then watch the fish swim around in the pet section. There was entirely too much going on in the Meijer. Would have killed for a trolley bus the Meijer growing up.

Calvin Witt

As I said on the YouTube video, I have been on the 24 a LOT either for short trips, or long ones. SF has a lot of new trolley buses that can go a decent distance without overhead power, which is handy, especially at 3rd and King where it seems like to install the T-line overhead line, all the trolley buses have to de-wire to go through the crossing, and then re-wire when they get through. Bit interesting, but hey, you do you SF MUNI...

Pauline Nuñez

This is just a late Muriel Dacq appreciation comment. (The “Tropiques” video clip is set in Ostend, where you can take the most sea scenic route i’ve ever been on via the Coast Tram which goes from Knokke to De Panne following the coast — no Trolley fact but still “now that is a fun fact” fact) ((Hi from France!))

Miles in Transit

NO WAY, I LOVE that video! And I do want to ride the Coast Tram someday - despite the claims made by LA's A Line, I think there's some argument to be made that Belgium still has the world's longest TRAM line perhaps? (also have you heard the acoustic version they put on Spotify? Maybe it hit differently for me because this song has always existed in a strange void of only existing through the one music video that appeared in my recommendeds one day, but it felt so transcendent to hear this very casual and off-the-cuff version of it!)

Pauline Nuñez

I had to check because I didn't know that version, kinda bossa nova and really shows the amazing voice she has! It's funny for me to imagine someone in the US listening to that particular song as it has this kitschy vibe over here (but still revered as it is also singular in the matter of lyrics and music, not totally mainstream). I also wanted to thank you to have mentioned Rain & Dole & Tea by Burnel and Greenfield, I’m a fan of the Stranglers and Burnell, and I knew about that album Euroman Cometh but not this obscure soundtrack and I’m obsessed now!!

Seth Ward

Great Video Miles! I loved every minute of it.
