Hello everyone, it's been a while,
As forewarned a long time ago, the final chapter of Blood & Fur has been posted on Patreon. Blood & Fur patrons can download a PDF copy of the final book in the epilogue chap, while Dracolich patrons have access to it there (https://www.patreon.com/posts/48625485 ) like all PDFs.
Concluding that series leaves me with a bittersweet feeling. I've put two years of my life in it and while it encountered its hurdles, I feel it's probably my highest quality work since The Perfect Run and the one I'm most satisfied with.
But now that it's done... well, I'm honestly unsure how to proceed on the writing front.
Full disclosure, at this point, 80% of my writing-related revenue comes from Vainqueur the Dragon, The Perfect Run, and Apocalypse Tamer, with all of my other series combined filling the rest; including the five or so series/books I've written in the last two years. Blood & Fur worked very well on Patreon (enough that the number of people cancelling their patronage now that it's done is going to sting a lot), but Amazon & Audible are another story and those are my main sources of income.
I'm not complaining. I live relatively comfortably and with enough funds to kickstart projects like the TPR video game (big news coming on that, but contractually forced into silence for now). I realize how unbelievably lucky I am to have made a career out of my creative ventures.
But well... it's a bit crushing to compare numbers from older works with the new ones and see that they have a fraction of the reviews/tractions/revenues of the pre-Apocalypse Tamer ones. It makes me wonder what went wrong.
While things are going phenomenally well on The Perfect Run video game front, I feel I've plateaued hard on the writing front. Maybe I've stretched myself too thin on too many projects over the last two years, or didn't take the time to prepare enough. Maybe I should drop stories that don't perform well early and focus on better ones, even if I hate leaving stuff unfinished, or focus on doing sequels to existing works rather than create something new. I'm really at a moment where I'm questioning everything.
There's also the fact that as mentioned a bit earlier, things are accelerating quite a lot on the The Perfect Run game front (and webtoon, let's not forget that one) and I'll be expected to work as its narrative designer/co-director for the next two years. This will probably impact my writing schedule a lot on 2025/2026, and the possibility of writing sequels to The Perfect Run as part of our promotion strategy has also been raised.
All of this to say... while I'm continuing to update Board & Conquest at the normal pace, I'm not going to seriously jump into a new story with a set schedule immediately, whether it'll be Paypocalypse or anything else. Paypocalypse chapters are probably going to come when they're done rather than one or twice a week, at least until Board & Conquest is done. I might try other pilots on more serious stories as well (I still dearly want to write a story about the Mortalities from The Lost Deaths one day, though I'll have to rework the verse to make it commercially palatable) and see the reception to them.
So yeah, all in all, I'm at a point where I'm questioning everything and being a bit more cautious with new projects. If you have suggestions or thoughts to share I'd be happy to read them in the comments.
Otherwise on a lighter note, I guess I can share you a few pictures of the webtoon/game.

I hope to send you larger updates on that front in late August once a few things are out of the way.
But yeah, in any case, here are the news and I'll be happy to read what you think of them in the comments.
Best regards,
Voidy.
