Donkey Kong's "King K. Rool" as a realistic pseudosuchian (Patreon)
Content
A gift commission for my dear friend T. K. Sivgin - in honour of his fandom of the Donkey Kong universe. Behold Kroolasuchus - a spec-evo pseudosuchian that emulates the "King K. Rool" character.
This illustration actually started out as a free-style sketch of a random pseudosuchian.

I thought it resembled King K. Rool, and refined this sketch into a full-scale drawing. Here you can also see one of my tricks of the trade - I print out a "moodboard" of references on a blank page, and draw the creature around them. I don't trace or use these photographs directly, I just look at them on the paper as I'm drawing.
This results in a very intuitive, on-the-go referencing that one just can't get from looking at a screen, or even a separate page. This technique allows me to ingrain the "essence" of my references into the drawing at a very direct level.

"Blast you pesky apes! I'll get you next time!"
Thank you all for your support on Patreon, and beyond! Do get in touch if you want me to illustrate realistic computer game characters like this one for you!
