Perverted alien bioconstruct couch (Patreon)
Content
A great fun commission for generous patron J. M., a long-time supporter of my monster art. This one evolved out of a brief mention of a bioconstruct prop in one of Robert Reed's books.
A living couch always stood near the doorway, waiting to serve. Woven from three unrelated beasts-of-burden, none of them sentient, the organism had three pampered mouths and one shared anus, fur and fat and firm muscle creating a platform just smart enough to always make itself comfortable for its owner. The Master Captain reached the couch and spun about. But then the knees locked. She didn’t sit. As if startled, the couch twitched.
A big fan of biological furniture, I set to work in earnest. I came up with three wildly different designs:

This version had a built-in reading light.

Just for added detail, I demarcated the extent of each constituent creature for each design.

We went ahead with the final design, and I fleshed it out with my usual illustration process. This time, I printed out the chosen sketch, and built it up by tracing it on semi-transparent paper.

Finally, I "installed the semantic plumbing" by creating a detailed labeled diagram of the creature(s). These explanations add a lot of realism, even for such a whimsical design.

So ends another creature design... Thank you all for supporting me on Patreon, and beyond! :)
