Glimpse from a world of rampant crocodiles (Patreon)
Content

Generous patron and friend N. S. came by with an amazing commission request - a flying predator attacking an armoured, grazing herbivore in a world (or continent) dominated by rampant crocodylomorphs.
Crocodile relatives were extremely diverse in the past, and included lightly-built terrestrial runners, near-dinosaur-analogues, shark-like swimmers, and armoured herbivores in their ranks.

I started this assignment by creating sketches for the two animals I was going to portray.

Based on my patron's feedback, I refined the grazer's overall body form, and the flying predator's face. The grazer's overall form was a homage to the "Rhinoceros Hoplocroc" featured in the legendary early 2000's Specworld speculative dinosaur project (seen immediately below - NOT my work!).

I then completed the final ink drawings for the two creatures.
Here is the progression of cleaned line-art, screentones, and colouring for Lepikkos xiphophorus (the sword-bearing scaled horse).

The same progression for the wyvern-croc, Aquilisuchus draconoides. I drew the head separately and in larger format to get crisper details.

Thus ended another great commission. I am a big fan of speculative archosaurs, and I could easily draw another ten or twenty creatures from this world. Alas! Too little time, too much work! Thank you all for supporting me on Patreon, and beyond!
