Well, gonna slip that into the ol' "Aesca Inspiration" folder. This is amazing.

Maybe the beach sentinel is waiting for Turtle Man to return.

I know what this thing is to me, now. An old Phoonkt organism on the edge of the Scarlet Sea, erected during the time of the Kawakaywah, who considered it sacred, and when they eventually matriculated away from their cities, their carvings of it remained. There are even depictions of it in the springs upland, where the Wakwahnooteh carved images of it into limestone and scapulae of extinct mammals washed up by the spring boils. The Phoonkt may not even know it was there anymore. The hurricanes bury it and reveal it on various odd years. At times it was buried beneath tides, but when the shore subsided sixty years ago and half the town slid into the sea, it uncovered it again. People know it's Phoonkt-made, but not what it's for or how it's survived so long, biomancers come by periodically to meditate near it or simply put their hands on it for hours at a time.

Neat! Love a good mysterious entity.
