Oh, Ibrahim...

Stormbuilder

Wow. Dick move, Ibrahim.

Vivifae

Goddamnit, there goes another potential ally for Miriam... She's really gonna have to do this the hard way it seems

E

Pisses me off that this is what you get for trusting people and trying to be nice. Even tho it’ll probably all work out for the best it’s like bruh fuck you guys she should have just said fuck it and destroyed Liuan

chumponimys

Oh how I hope the Castrellas are rescued by their adoptive uncle Gaius. We need the full family there all together! (With grandpa Irrabi facilitating the meeting like the cool cucumber he always is). Would it make any kind of sense to dedicate such a powerful resource to that? Probably not. Do I need it to happen? Yes. Very much yes.

wintersky

Well, yeah, but honestly? I do actually think he will put a reasonable amount of work into protecting them unless Mirian goes against whatever demands he plans to make entirely, because he's not a fanatic about being The Only Time Traveler and he's also not stupid, so I don't think he wants to go to war with Mirian specifically even if he does want war with Baracuel, and he knows very well what the deaths of beloved family member can do to someone's motivation. And given the chaotic war that none of them have really had the chance to preplan, they might very well ultimately be safer as his "guests" than on their grand tour.

wintersky

RIP to Elic, poor guy just wanted to be an academic and had the sense to question when the given narrative was really fishy. Unfortunately: wrong place, wrong time.

Matt H

Oof, I love this story, but it's getting painful to read one chapter at a time. I'm almost tempted to take a break for a month or two to let a backlog pile up since I don't have the self-control to not read a chapter as soon as it comes out.

Avery Aderyn

Ibrahim, you dumb fuck.

Omoi

It's time to kill Ibrahim. Really screwing with her family now, huh? I really really hope Mirian decimates them all. **** being nice.

FirewolfQuasar

Honestly hostages of Ibrahim might be the safest place for them. They will be guarded by of his armies and the Akana prophet's are unlikely to spend as much effort trying to kill them as if Miran was protecting them. I don't think his demands for turning over them will be to great after the Akana are dealt with too.

OriginalChibster

Miriam do be like the Ominian right now- having all of those temporal anchors being stabbed in her back rn 😌 You could make an ̷r̷e̷l̷i̷g̷i̷o̷n̷ soul ascension out of that probably

Flying Toaster

Logical move but bad opponent assessment. Sending preemptive condolences to whomever cares about him for his sudden and very expected pretzelification. To think I even shipped them at one point lol

Mr NerfGun

He wants to destroy Baraceul and Mirian needs the Barceuli, not to mention the atrocities his wars would create.

Clara

Honestly I'm expecting the kidnapping to be well within Mirian's counterplans, all according to keikaku

ArKadeFire

Yeah, now I'm convinced Gabriel killed Ibrahim's wife to force his hands to start a new loop. I don't see another explanation for such an aggressive behavior

BOT

Crack Theory: This loop fails but Mirian figures out how to loop without the anchor, but without the cyclic reset of her body the tumors and other defects from her liberal use of soul magic healing leads to her making god flesh for herself. This also becomes the source of the grey focuses.

Mr NerfGun

I think she corrected that. And I don't think her dad would have let her keep that bad habbit.

Leaf

i hope ibrahim’s head is soon liberated from his body

Enkelados

I feel like Ibrahim is still on Miriams Side, or rather saving the world's side.

Ike5421

I don't get it the other profits think the time loop will continue without marium so they should be in a stalling pattern just trying to keep her too busy to kill them and continue the loop without her. Idk maybe that is what this is but I feel like kidnapping her family will just bring her focus on Ibrahim he is better off focusing his attention on the other profits

Ike5421

The other profits just have to destroy enough gates to end the current iteration and then marium is gone from the loop

Enthernal

that is basically their plan, but they know Mirian has contingencies in place. This is the different prophets way of trying to mess up whatever plan she had.

John Anastacio

Interesting. Note that Mirian thought of Ibrahim as being predictable in the previous chapter. Also note the 9th statue in the Labyrinth vault in ch 141 showed a vaguely feminine elder god with 3 swords thrust through her back. I've often wondered if those were physical swords, magical swords like the Ominian's needles, or metaphorical swords.

Touch

Hope she corrected her healing. And Ibrahim is smart lmao, she gonna go scorched earth, This place? THERE NO BEAUTY IN IT ANYMORE

A.Irsigler

I recon Mirams family staying with Ibrahim is actually... not a bad situation? They will be a lot saver with him, simply due to the fact that Ibrahim appears as a bit of a neutral wild-card for most prophets. And attacking him or someone staying with him under guest rights - that will just guarantee that he will come for you. On that note - Ibrahim is a lot smarter then people give him credit for i think. He knows he owes Miriam a lot. From the Relicarium for the catalyst needed to help his wife survive to her being understanding and offering meaningful insight on how to combat the people-fatigue prophets inevitably get... Yeah. Liuan has nothing compared on Miriam when it comes to Ibrahim. Ibrahim and Miriam have a great dynamic anyhow - she is the one that reaches for the stars, the brains, wants to believe in humanity and in common sense for a greater good... (though sucks to appeal to people on an more emotional level) While he is great to appeal to people on an emotional level and can move nations easily - he also is somewhat jaded and expects the worst from people. He is the most stoic and uncompromising of all the prophets, and i think in that role he will come to aid Miriam when things are on knifes edge. Where Zhuan is the intellectual companion for Miriam, Ibrahim is the stoic bedrock. Her family will be fine with him.

brainrot.elemental

The unknown god always felt like foreshadowing for Miriam's apotheosis. But, narratively, this seems like the final loop, and Mirian isn't anywhere close to godhood yet. I wonder if the unknown god will come into the plot at all or be left as a mystery. Some ideas: 1. The unknown god is a Mirian from another timeline. Mirian speculated in chapter 289 that the loop might be multidimensional/nested, given that even the gatelings and gods can't comprehend it. Maybe there's a variant of the loop in which Mirian keeps training for millions of loops and eventually reaches godhood. (And is therefore rectroactively present in all timelines). 2. The unknown god is a Mirian from far future. She wins, ends the loop, uses a chthonic needle to become immortal, leads humanity to the stars, and eventually transcends humanity through technology. 3. Through timefuckery, Mirian never *becomes* the unknown god, yet still is the unknown god. IIRC the unmoored said that Carkavakom enforces causality to prevent another gods' war. Maybe all gods are born through causality violations.

BlastYoBoots

Typo: “They were supposed to help with runecrafting somehow” Missing period at the end.

BlastYoBoots

Honestly, regardless of whether Ibrahim’s intentions are good OR bad (and both are possible), her family is safer as Ibrahim’s hostages than they would be getting into the hands of any of the more clearly enemy prophets. Heck, they’re safer than they might be alongside Miriam, who has too many places she needs to go and things she needs to do to preserve her chance of building the Repulsor and still fend off the other prophets; Ibrahim, even maliciously, would still be able to devote more attention to keeping Miriam’s family safe if only as hostages in either his direct hands or those of capable lieutenants.

HelloDexter

Am I the only one that sees Ibrahims actions as protecting Miriams family from Liuan? Dunnk why I got so much faith in him but he's totally still on team This Place.

Ben Sheahan

Miriam really should have seen this one coming...

Clifton

I like this progression as stressful as it is for a reader. It is setting up some nice ethical choices for the characters and political leverage points that can only result in plotting and negotiation between sides. I can only see interesting outcomes from this.

Ecthe

Oh but she did. She always feared what an hostile prophet could do her family. There is no way she hasn't prepared some counter measures.

Metal(Liz)ard🏳️‍⚧️

There's really only really 1 question left in my mind as the endgame truly begins for this story and it's is mirian going to be forced to reinsert her anchor by manually visiting the moon and somehow do this all again solo after disposing of the 3 traitors and wildcard and reconfigure her plan to work without the tree's help after the emperor can no longer handle it. Could mirian and maybe zhuan fix the world by themselves without going truly insane in the process

J S

Why name a chapter with a spoiler at all??? Doesn't that make a table of contents a bad idea?

Leaf

“He said something about needing to remove his needle eventually. Said, ‘Three have already returned.’ I became worried and told him he couldn’t have mine.” waiter! waiter! one foreshadowing about gaius having to remove his cthonic needle to help mirian save the world please!

fghsgh

Yeah I'm not sure what Ibrahim is doing here. Maybe he's taking them hostage to ensure they can continue cooperating, maybe he's putting them under his protection so they don't accidentally get hurt while he invades Baracuel, which would evoke Mirian's wrath, or maybe he's protecting them against Liuan. In any case it's probably nothing to worry about considering Mirian can just, like, kill Ibrahim, and, if he had a dead man's switch, resurrect her family. What /is/ worrying here is whatever mind control Liuan has apparently cooked up. And also apparently that she has been hiding her true power level. And also we don't know what Gabriel is up to. And I can't help but worry about Gaius' chthonic needle (though if that happens I still hope Mirian can hold his soul in stasis until she manages to find another one and resurrect him).

HelloDexter

Nooooo! Prime Minister Kinsman! He was too good for this world.

Leaf

"Apparently the Cult of Zolomator had taught this Prophet?" -> Zomalator

lenkite

Yeah, don't see how this is going to be the last loop anyways. Unless Liuan, 2000 loops later, having repeatedly failed to save the world as [World Dictator], reinserts Mirian's anchor when she is an ordinary student and tells her that she will be an archmage and she needs to solve everything. And story restarts from there, lol.
