RE the sound, I don’t remember there being issues with the last mic (I was probably just so excited to have an episode to watch). Having the old mic back does add a quality (slight echo, perhaps?) that I can’t quite describe, but it feels like the audio in the old room, which is nostalgic like your other videos. ☺️

Shirley the unsung hero. She really is doing her best trying to take care of everyone after mom died and dad had to deal with that fallout. Big brother father definitely seemed more involved when he was a kid. He's trying but you can definitely sense the strain in the relationships after he wrote the book.

I grew up Catholic and got so used to seeing dead bodies at wakes that I often forget they're not the norm for everybody. Like we just have casual conversations in the room with the body 🤣 It is strange. Lol but I do like Shirley's explanation of replacing bad images with good ones

Alanda, hello! :) Hopefully you’ll see this message, but I wanted to leave a couple recommendations for you for your audio. This isn’t a promotion or anything, but I also have a reaction channel but for kpop and have used 3 different mics since I started a few years ago. Initially, I was using the mic from my phone (which was also being used to record), then I eventually got a new camera and a Yeti mic. You can actually buy it from Amazon and it’s pretty inexpensive, I think. Now I have switched to the Shure mic and it’s my favorite one because it does exactly what you were saying you wanted. Blocks out background noise and it sounds great too. The Shure mic is on Amazon as well, however, there are two versions. One is more expensive than the other (I use the cheaper one lol). The setup for both the Yeti and the Shure mic are very easy, although, I don’t know what you use for computer/recording so hopefully one of those suit you well. Sorry this message is so long but I hope it helps out. Either way, happy to help. P.S. You may as well just let the tears flow lol, you won’t be able to dodge it in this show. It’s rough, but amazing! Can’t wait for the next ep!🤗

The first time I watched this, I had such a hard time with Shirl. I was like, "Stop taking on more than you can handle and then getting mad at people who don't!" I appreciate how everyone comments on the way the show seems to pressure that kid to see his grandmothers body and how it’s not necessary. I appreciate the idea of having a nice “final image” of someone, but I viewed my fathers body before his funeral when I was like 15 and I didn’t find it particularly helpful
