Theo’s monologue is truly one of if not my favorite from the show(I sob EVERY TIME)…as always this show hits way too close to home and extremely so for this past year and a few months…that big sea of nothingness has surely been trying to drown the hell out of me😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫 feel very just…hollow most of the time lately & I try to fill myself up with my escapisms(my comfort creators being a part of that, and I always appreciate that you are in that bunch. You truly make a magnificent difference with what you do, and I hope you always know that. You are loved & your spirit is a radiant jewel in this barren world💖💖💖) & just for that moment it goes away, but on rougher days..not so much.

Damn everything about this episode was perfect. Theo's monologue. The parallel of older Theo and Shirley getting scared in the funeral home mirroring them getting scared in the bed at Hill House when they were kids. All the fucked up mess with Steven.

Theo trying and failing to explain what happened in the basement for most of the episode, and Shirley getting frustrated with the fragments she was getting (“I didn’t see him”) and it all failing to make sense and causing them to argue, only for Miss NELL herself to step in and deliver one of the the scariest jumpscares in our lifetime just to stop the bickering And then when Theo breaks down and finally explains what happened, and it all making perfect horrible tragic sense, as she delivers a legendary performance… unmatched. I’m so happy you decided to watch this show. I love that you clocked the mustache man being a ghost right away. The tiddy punch is one of the funniest, realist sister moments. And I know everyone dogs on Steve and yeah his choice was messed up and selfish but I love getting glimpses into his thought process.

I’ve had a few watch throughs of this show and honestly each time I love steve more as a character (not as a person I would enjoy meeting or hanging out with lol). his betrayal of leigh’s trust is so awful, so beyond anything I could imagine inflicting on someone I love, yet I can’t help but see his cowardice reflected back at me. How Ms. Kate didn't win the Emmy, the Golden Globe, THE NOBEL PRIZE, etc. is beyond me, because that was a tour-de-force performance. And I give credit to Ms. Reaser, too, because no way I could have stood there, completely stone-faced, and watched that without sobbing. Also, snaps for perhaps the best jumpscare in the past two decades. I love that Nell always resurrects her own ass and scares the hell out of them to stop them from fighting. let me tell you something...when Steven said that he had a vasectomy and has been lying to Leigh all this time I wanted to reach through my screen and KILL HIM. the fact that he didn't tell her and she spent all this time probably thinking something is "wrong" with her or that she's "at fault" for them still not having kids even with all that trying...mind you, if he gave her his reasonings she probably would've understood. Theo's speech after Nell scares the shit out of her and Shirley always makes me cry, I built and polished an Oscar with Kate's name on it since the real ones are clearly blind to see this masterful acting

This episode breaks my freaking heart like an explosion of grief. Sometimes people don't pay as much attention to Theo's confession because of the jaw-dropping jump scare that happens right before, and that is such a shame. You were ON IT, though! I bawled my eyes out during that scene, and to this day, it destroys me. Another moment that really moves me is Steven describing reading the medical reports of his mom and how he breaks describing it. It so perfectly shows us the trauma, pain and sense of betrayal he carried. Of course, Steve being Stevennn, he went and took his father's lack of communication to a severe degree. As he pointed fingers at his dad's secrets, he simultaneously destroyed his marriage with his own. DAMN YOU, STEVEN! I feel for him, but god, what a way to torture and disrespect your partner. Above all, the performances in this episode are exquisite. From those delivering monologues to those receiving the information, it is raw and REAL. I absolutely adore your reactions and always thought you would be the perfect reactor for this. You not only do not disappoint, but you bring a level of understanding and emotional connection (in a first-watch no less) like no other. Amazing, amazing, amazing! It's phenomenal to watch you process this journey. Thank you!

He is so deeply troubled (of course they all are) but like WOW!!!! I actually think that's one of the scariest things we've seen in the show 😭😭 That level of deception is TERRIFYING to me! And I would have never guessed he was capable of something like that, which I think is probably what scares me (AND LEIGH) the most. He's so sure he has a lid on what he perceives to be the problem but he really is just as wrong and destructive as Luke's addiction 😭😭. I would NEVER get over that if I was Leigh. That monologue is definitely one of my favorite pieces of writing I've witnessed. It's so devastatingly real and resonant. I think what breaks my heart the most is that need to banish numbness and how desperate it makes her. How destructive she becomes, both intentionally and unwittingly, in an attempt to feel. I'm so grateful to whatever strength allows you to reach for things that make you feel warmer and feel even an echo of joy rather than being pushed into needing to feel anything for sake of it. yeah it's an amazing character study! The behavior is very rooted in survival instincts. He does all of these ghastly things (some passive avoidance, some rooted in denial, some aggressive rejection of what he knows to be true) in an attempt to protect his mind from what he believes to be something very destructive and maybe even inevitable! It's so devastating, and while it doesn't excuse his actions, it contextualizes them beautifully.

Steven is the villain of Leigh's story fr!!! 😭😭😭 The level of deception that he employed is so scary to me because he allowed it to continue even while actively seeing her in pain because of it. We watch him emotionally shutting down so he doesn't have to face/feel what he's doing to her. He's just so so broken and its devastating to witness! My wife Theo, on the other hand, did not know what she was doing (in this one instance🥴) and is therefore innocent, your honor!! (and yeah Kate DESERVES! 😭)

Leigh needs a building erected in her honor, because she even held herself together and kept it VERY civil at the funeral when Steve tried to use it as an opportunity to talk whatever crazy shit he was saying to her over in that corner 😭. She just walked away and respectfully took her seat. It would be so hard for me to look at his face (even understanding all the fucked up shit he's going through) that I would have slipped into the back right before the funeral started and left before he could even see me. AND I WOULDA BEEN TOLD THE FAMILY! Like he does all of that lying and then expects me to carry on a ruse in front of his family?!? People I like and respect?!? He thought he was "being kind" by lying to Leigh just like his father thought he was "protecting" the kids by hiding the truth. Such a great detail ab the treehouse! Each child had a special space in the house that didn’t exist! Throw dance studio, Nelly’s toy room, the game room, the tree house! I don’t remember if Shirley had a special place, but it’s so crazy how it all connects 😭 masterful story telling! It makes sense why you could see movement in the red room but never go in until it opened itself to you. And you get the little clues like Olivia and Mrs. Dudley saying “the what?” When one of the kids would mention their special room. Such good Easter eggs
