I’ll never say no to Trick r Treat, sooner the better 😌 I truly do love this movie tho. Watched it for the first time knowing absolutely nothing about it after it popped up on Netflix, and I was blown awayyyy. I didn’t even know it was a Flanagan project! This was a great example of tension building. Flanagan really was able to set the tone for a frustrating setup yet satisfying end. This story could transition into a live stage play. Another satisfying reaction. Once again, Happy Halloween!🤗🎃

This is totally off topic and I’m not sure if this is where you even send recs but alanda, if you need a campy, gory, and ultimately mean girls meets scream meets glee then I’d recommend scream queens! It’s got two seasons and was made by Ryan Murphy and honestly, it’s one of the funniest horror tv comedy’s ever made! Emma Robert’s, Jamie Lee Curtis, and nicey Nash galore! Seeing how much your loving chucky makes me think you’d live for this even if its not posted to here LOL

fun fact about this movie; Flanagan and Kate Seigel wrote the script together and used their own house to plot everything out and act out the roles and areas of escape or defense, but the actual house they filmed at was different and they had to rewrite large parts of the script to make it work.

Trick R Treat is definitely about the embodiment of Halloween, but she can be appreciated year round - I have a door mat and door cover for my office that i run year round. Loved this reaction, my first time seeing this movie. Even though I know what happens from videos I’ve seen discussing it I was TENSE. I’m glad I didn’t watch it “alone”, all I have is my small elderly dog with me so idk what he’d do against an invader 😂. I watched 4 Mike Flanagan shows in October so it feels fitting to end with one of his movies. Don’t know if it’s okay to suggest movies in comments, sorry if there’s another avenue we’re supposed to use but I would looove to see a reaction to Ginger Snaps.

I wasn't sure whether to post this because it's negative, but decided a different perspective might not be a bad thing. I can remove, if people really don't like it. I did not like this movie when I watched it. I found the concept a little simple and kind of wince-worthy. A senseless attack on an innocent woman...BUT SHE'S DEAF. The fact that this was the entire movie made me feel a tad icky since it boiled down to whether or not a deaf person would be any use saving themselves. They highlighted that they were no use saving anyone else via her friend's brutal senseless slaughter. But at the very least, I think if you're choosing to tell this story in the 2020's, you at least hire a deaf person then. There are so few opportunities for deaf actors as it is and I'm sure Marlee Matlin (for example) would have made herself available for a leading role. The monologue in the character's head felt like a convenient out for why they didn't cast an actual deaf actor, but you can easily hire someone else to do the monologue and have the deaf character played by a deaf actor. If this movie had been made many many years ago, I would have said fine. Life has changed and nowadays the casting would be different, but the fact this is so recent is sad to me. It reminded me of 'Wait Until Dark.' But 'Wait Until Dark' has a story beyond 'torture of a blind woman.' Plus, it has Audrey Hepburn's lovely performance (amongst others, including Alan Arkin) and was made in the late 60's (a different time in movie history). This just felt a bit bleurgh.

I think as long as the way your opinion is stated is respectful (which I think you were for sure) then leaving a comment with your thoughts is fine, and you brought up some good points. That said, this movie is almost 10 years old at this point and I think things didn't really start changing in the deaf representation space until a couple years later when A Quiet Place came out.

I know a lot of us here, myself included, probably don't TECHNICALLY celebrate Thanksgiving, but may I make a request / suggestion for ADDAMS FAMILY VALUES and KRISTY (from 2014, it's like THE STRANGERS only on an entire empty college campus during Thanksgiving break, it's insanely tense). There are very few Thanksgiving-themed genre films and even fewer that are good, but these two absolutely rule.
