Just throwing this out there, California is a vastly different state than the rest of United States by almost every conceivable metric. It is short-sighted to say what you experience in California is representative of the experience you would get in all of the states. From what it sounds like, the same could be same of the provinces of Canada; they sound pretty different, especially from an availability and quality of health care stand point. I would caution against saying U.S. anything is better/worse based just your living experience in Southern California. On a positive note, I do think this format for discussion is pretty good. In person is always better, but this is perfectly sufficient to produce podcasts

Completely agree about healthcare in CA being vastly different than the rest of the U.S. I live in the Midwest and have recently heard of a subscription through a doctor’s office instead of having insurance. I have never heard of this existing in my area. I have my primary care physician that I see for my yearly or if I’m sick and it’s pretty inexpensive. I even have a high deductible plan and it’s still pretty cheap to see my doctor.

Learning about healthcare in other countries make me realise how blessed I am where I'm living... wish healthcare could be more accessible and affordable for everyone it sounds crazy to not call the ambulance when you are on the verge of dying (touch wood) because it cost so much ><
