After the current chapter of Avalon (should be another 30 pages or so), I want to take a break and do something a bit more crowd-pleasing, probably "The Dropout", but I've got a couple other viable drafts in the works, including this one. Check it out if you're interested in seeing the process!

I'm sure a lot of folks are feeling the desire to disconnect and get out into nature, and when I was imagining how that might be portrayed in a character-driven narrative, I came up with Jordan and Cal. I want to romanticize the pull of disconnection, and speak to my own struggles with being close to people, especially as more relationships are mediated by a network of atomized online services

Cal is short for "Calypso", because Cal's mom is a John Denver fan
