Clyde is surprised!

One of the toughest balances I gotta strike is how much hatching/gradation I should do for colored comics. Too much, and the colors end up muddy. Too little, and the shapes don't pop as much as they do with hard blacks in the mix.

 Maybe someday I'll be ballsy enough to just go for plain flat colors, and be able to lean on my linework harder, but I feel my sense of color theory has growing to do before I reach the point where flats can stun.

Anyway, I'm finally figuring out these dang faces! It always takes me about 20 pages haha
