A/N: Hey guys, I decided to release a snippet I have been writing in my free time to entertain myself. I hope you guys enjoy it in the meantime until the next chapter is out.

Title: Overchaos

(Overlord x Chaos Gacha)

Life is full of ups and downs, the up that is getting reincarnated in another world with a Gacha that promises endless power. The down is that you end up in a world that is going to be invaded by a tomb of evil godlike beings.

So, how do you survive such a thing?

Gambling, the answer is gambling.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Death was no surprise to me.

Life is like a car ride, except you are in the backseat and controlling the wheel and pedals with brooms. And there are hundreds of deer waiting to jump onto the road.

The thing I'm mostly salty about dying was the fact I broke my ass trying to get to college only to die before I managed to do so.

Years of academy training wasted.

I did not have much hope for how my life was going, but having any chance being robbed from me was... annoying to say the least. But it was par for the course.

Yep, I would not consider myself a "lucky" person.

Maybe if I had had opportunities, I could have done something with my life. I was fairly smart and disciplined enough to study to get what I wanted after all.

But as expected, a human being is not strong enough to budge the steering wheel of the car they are riding, called life, even when it's steering towards a brick wall.

Now, I wouldn't say I have lived a horrible life. But I also wouldn't say I've lived a good one. I just lived.

Right, I should probably introduce myself. I am Ludo Wright. My father was a French Mechanic and my mother was an English, Literature Teacher.

There really was not much more to say about me. I was not a very notable person. I was trying to become a Mechanical Engineer when, of all things, as I was commuting to school a goddamn balcony fell on me and flattened me like a pancake.

I died just slow enough to feel my bones being crushed to paste for a second before splattering like a rotten watermelon.

Honestly, my death was basically comical if you ask me. I would find it humorous if it didn't lead me to die horribly.

So, if I was dead, where was I right now?

Hell if I know. Everything is pitch black, and I cannot even feel my body. I felt dead, though, I could tell it in my gut. The only thing I could do right now was to cross my nonexistent fingers and hope this was not all there was to death and that I was like... stuck in the loading screen leading to the afterlife.

In the meantime, I just entertained myself with my own thoughts. But that was before something changed after an unknown amount of time(Time was hard to keep track of here, but I reckon at least a few hours.)

Congratulations! You have awakened the Chaos Gacha!

Looking at the floating text in front of me, I felt the urge to rub my nonexistent eyes in incredulity, but I had no chance to do so as I was assaulted with another notification.

You have received 3x Gold Random Gacha Tickets

After all Gacha Tickets have been spent, random world transfer will occur.

I must have stared at the screen in front of me for what felt like minutes, trying to understand it.

A... gacha?

Now, I was familiar with the premise of reincarnating in another world with a boon from something beyond your comprehension, but I never thought it would happen to me.

It was like walking under stormy weather, you know, there is an infinitesimally small chance of you getting hit by lightning, yet you never consider it happening to you as you walk.

But still, I couldn't help but admit this was incredibly exciting.

I mean, who wouldn't find it exciting? Being sent to another world with the chance to carve out your story there with powers beyond your wildest dreams. I know I have definitely dreamed of it many times while sleeping on an empty stomach after reading novels till 3 AM.

Sure, it could be a problem for some people with loved ones left behind and a life they were living, they might take the option to go back to their own world, but me?

I had none of those. My only close relative died 5 years ago and while I had some friends, we weren't too close. They might cry for a few days at my death but they would be over it in less than a week and go about their lives as usual.

So I had nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Whatever it is you are selling, sign me up!

Affirmation confirmed.

...That being said, some clarification on what those tickets and the "random world" thing are.

Explanation - Starting Tickets: Tickets allow you to roll the corresponding gacha they align with. The Gold Random Gacha Ticket can give you anything ranging from Items, Familiars, Powers and Skills that are contained in the Gold rank gacha. Simply prompt mentally to roll a ticket.

Explanation - World Transfer: Once all tickets have been spent, you will begin your new world in a random world across all of reality that the user is aware of. Mostly from works of fiction from their world of origin.

Alright, that is slightly more concerning.

I have played gacha games before, I was what you would call a hardcore free-to-play. I played but did not spend a single dime, and I knew very well how cruel and punishing they could be.

If I could choose to pick my choice of cheat, Gacha would not be in the top 3 picks, but since it is offered to me I will simply express my gratitude for getting anything at all.

Complaining about free stuff was for privileged babies who didn't know how good they had it.

That being said... random world.

That has so many ways to go wrong.

So many ways it could go mild.

And some ways it could go well.

Obvious ones I would beg and hope not to land in was shit like Warhammer for literally everything in that universe, Bloodborne for not getting my mind mangled, twisted and tied into a ribbon, and many other game worlds.

Mild was basically any slice of life world, nothing much to do there except take over the world? Not interested. I'd like a more fantastic adventure, but I won't complain if I end up in a regular world. A mundane second chance is better than none.

The good cases were worlds like Konosuba and such that had fantasy elements that were not facing impending hyperdoom.

Well, I have no choice, so no reason to ponder either. Just roll my first ticket.

Rolling Gold Random Gacha...

A Rare Item!

[Vial of Lifeblood]

Rarity: Rare

A vial containing condensed vitality in the form of blood, drinking it grants enhanced vitality, a minor healing factor, and an increased lifespan.

Well, isn't that rather perfect for my use? Having increased vitality and being able to recover quicker is useful in just about any case.

Alright, next one.

Rolling Gold Random Gacha...

A Rare Trait!

[Lese Majeste]

Rarity: Rare

Your chutzpah and boldness are perceived as more charming rather than irreverent or disrespectful by people in positions of power. In addition, people in power, like nobles, bosses, royalty, etc., find themselves more attracted to you.

Alright, alright, that would be pretty useful in a medieval world. Currying some favour with nobles is good for getting a job or getting some influence. Never a bad thing to have people with power on your side, after all.

Alright, last one, hopefully his one gives me some actual combat power.

Rolling Gold Random Gacha...

A Rare Familiar!

[Samson]

Rarity: Rare

A parasite that fuses itself to their host's hair and manifests as a maw filled with sharp teeth and yellow eyes. Samson is capable of growing, strengthening and manipulating his host's hair to form tentacles, whips, blades etc. he can also use it to manifest himself and fight. He is rather foul-mouthed and gruff.

Alright, I can do with. I played Skullgirls before, so I know how Samson can dish out pain. He is basically perfect for a newbie like me. If he was able to protect a high school girl against eldritch creatures, he can also protect me.

All tickets have been rolled. Roll the dice to decide your fate.

The moment my roll was confirmed, another notification quickly took over, and so did a d20 in my view, floating in the middle of the void waiting for me to roll it. I could feel that I regained some sort of sensation over what I assumed was my soul as I reached out.

Physically rolling the dice that decides your fate felt way more extreme, but I could only grasp it and hope something good was rolled as I shook and let go of the dice. Making it land on.

On...

20.

Holy fuck.

Natural 20 Bonus has been registered.

You have received [Ring of Chaos]

Please roll the dice to decide your fate.

Damn I must have used all of my luck with that roll. All that remains is not to roll a 1 with my next one.

Feeling more relieved, I grabbed the dice and rolled them again.

13.

Wow, where was all of this luck in my previous life?

Roll confirmed.

Starting transmigration.

Whelp, fingers crossed I will be sent to a decent world. Please, RNGesus, have mercy on your poor subject.

Destination Confirmed...

Good Luck.

Wait, why does that sound so ominous-

---------------------------------------

~Ludo Wright~

I woke up.

"Urghh, I can still feel that damn balcony on me."

Groaning, I pulled myself out of bed as I felt a wave of information crash into my mind. The gacha really did not pull its punches and sent me here with all the grace of a child lobbing a rock at a bird. The whole gacha part almost felt like a dream from the whiplash I felt from being transmigrated so fast. One moment I was a soul, and one moment I was here.

I sat on my bed as my brain acclimated to the new wave of information. I looked around my room, it was quite well lived in, the floor and ceiling were made of planks, while the walls were covered in beige plaster. There was a large window in my room covered by curtains that let a few stray beams of light through. A desk, two bookshelves, a couch, a chest, and a portrait of a family. And some miscellaneous stuff was piled in the corner.

I closed my eyes and tried to make sense of the information seamlessly integrated into my mind, it was less memories of this life and more memories of memories. As if I had watched a montage of that life instead of living it.

Well, it was not a bad house by any means with it being so close to the E-Rantel Adventurer guild after a-

Huh.

That's strange.

E-Rantel?

E-Rantel?

Like that city from Overlord?

Haha, no way, right?

I rubbed my eyes. For some reason, I still had memories of living in E-Rantel when my parents recently died and left behind their house.

How odd.

It's almost like it's trying to tell me I had ended up in the world of Overlord.

You know. That world where they are being invaded by overpowered, objectively evil monsters and demons who run farms that make any atrocity committed by humanity look like a joke.

Of course not, right?

Unfortunately.

Copium can only be huffed for so long when reality is staring you in the face.

Deep breath.

"What the fuck man..."

I slumped back into bed with a hand over my face.

Could it have been worse? Probably.

Could it have been better? Definitely.

Why the fuck did I get sent here of all places!? Even fucking Warhammer is safer in some cases! At least there you aren't guarenteed to get invaded and get sent by an evil bastard to get dismembered and your ass fucked for the rest of your life while your skin gets harvested or be eaten inside out by cockroaches for months straight.

The only grace I was offered is that I didn't remember hearing anything happening to Carne Village, nor anything about a warrior called Momon. So there must still be at least some time before Nazarick invades.

Who was I in this world? No one really. Just some guy, the son of a former adventurer who perished along with his wife 2 months ago and left behind enough money to last a few months, as well as this house I was in, situated closer to the centre of E-Rantel. I was apparently studying to be a librarian.

No one remarkable again.

What the hell was I to do? To be frank with you, chief, I don't think Vial of Lifeblood and Samson are gonna protect me against even the weakest of the Nazarick. Maybe, maybe I could take on the penguin.

Could I even get stronger? Was there a way to earn more tickets?

Information: Feats

Gacha tickets are achieved through feats, feats and achievements are actions that you accomplish, the more difficult and meaningful a feat is, the better the reward for it.

I silently read the notification in front of me and moved over to the window, throwing open the curtain and looking down at the bustling streets of E-Rantel down below before sighing.

It seems like I will need to put in quite the effort to be able to survive in this new life.

A/N: All things considered, Ludo had a pretty darn good roll that would have assured him a pretty darn good start in basically any other world that is not named after a single word. But unfortunately, in this world, he is going to need a hell of a lot more than that.

I really wanted to see how the Chaos Gacha would perform in the world of Overlord, and I had a catastrophic lack of Overlord fics to read, so I decided to write this. And it's honestly pretty fun. And I have decided to do what very few, if any, have done and make the MC against Nazarick. Did you like this snippet? I'd love to know because I am planning to release a few of these since I have them stacked up.

Comments

Colin Peden

Interesting idea, going against Nazarick. So, will he try and be a guiding conscience for Momonga or will he just try to survive? I amnlooking forward to how this plays out. As for this being an Overlord fic, thank you. I agree that there are not many Overlord fanfics. My problem is I have found a couple I liked, just for them to get abandoned halfway through. I hope this one gets completed, or at least a lot of chapters.

SaffireSpirit13

Chose the Ludo Must Die Mode for this world huh? Well hopefully he has Multiple Lives or he’s going to have a bad time.
