Reze, just like Denji, was a girl who had only ever been used and ordered around by others, longing for nothing more than a normal, peaceful life. In the end, Denji was ready to throw away the life he had just to run away with her to the "countryside". And Reze, despite knowing about Makima and fully understanding the danger, still went back to the "city" to see him — making a “not smart” choice. It’s an achingly beautiful love story.

How is ds going to top this? Pretty easily actually. Now after seeing both. Ds had way better animation and fight sequences. I did like the music choices in csm a little better but thats just personal preference. If this is your reaction to this. Then I bet that by the end of infinitely castle you'll be naked needing a smoke and a sandwich. Both movies were great. I like csm better in this movie that its season 1. But still have to give it to demon slayer. Cant wait for your reaction to that

As much as I love both the sub and dub of this series, I gotta give the dub major props for this movie. For an example, when Denji first mounted Beam before the final fight instead of just being all "this is it!" Denji just says "Yeeeehaaaaw motherfackas!"

The storytelling in the movie is so next level. The way it tricks you with the spider and butterfly metaphor into thinking that Reze is the spider and Denji is in her web while in reality Reze is the butterfly and Makima is the spider. Makima is such a frightening character, the way she tells Reze that she likes the country mouse as well implying that she was always watching her gave me goosebumps. The phone booth scene really hits different when you realise Reze is there on a mission to kill him. She realises he’s just a kid like her that’s been deprived of everything and used all his life(probably why she starts crying). This is most likely the first time in her life she’s gifted something like a flower and the “arigatou” feels so sincere from her.

I love how Mappa elevated the adaptation in so many ways. The spider imagery was especially relevant because the story made a Spider-Man reference later on that I think was lost in translation for the dub. In the sub version Beam suggested Denji to shoot chains out of his arms and swing around tall buildings to get around quickly. An obvious reference to Spider-Man. The gag was that Denji completely missed the point and used his chains to rope Beam into a steed. But at the end Denji finally realized his power and used his chains effectively to cast a web which ended up trapping himself and Reze into his cocoon in an ultimate suicide dive into the ocean. At that point you can look back at the spider reference and realize that the spider in the image was Denji, and it was Reze that was trapped as she spent more time with Denji and falling in love. The butterfly was a Monarch butterfly which is poisonous, signifying that both the spider and the butterfly would perish, just like how both of them sank to the ocean at the end... Well, at least that's my interpretation of it. :). Some like to think that the real spider is Makima which works too, but that would disregard all the spider references in the rest of the movie.

I feel like the Demon Slayer Movie and this Movie are such different styles despite them both being Anime, that it’s not really necessary to compare them. They are both visually great. I think the story is the best place to compare them. Edit: okay. Nevermind. The action scenes in this are too amazing. I guess my main point is that they are just different styles of anime.

The part where they visit the cinemas is really important to us as viewers. There's people who can laugh and empathize or even like a lot of things, no matter how they're made. It is significant to us because we see that both Denji and Makima are not only on the same wavelength, it also shows that not everything can fit any one person. IDK, I really loved that detail. The animations are great, but the story is above and beyond for me.

I would probably say I enjoyed this more than Infinity Castle but I hope u don’t let comparing them get in the way of enjoying that movie. Getting these two movies in the same year is just insane, no need to put one down to lift up the other

I’m never gonna let the internet convince me of something again. The movie was fun but not the masterpiece 10/10 everyone said it was. The things that stood out the most for me were the animation and music. The story itself and the characters I didn’t really care for. Overall I’d give it a 7/10.

At 1.22.58 you can see Denji dissolving the chainsaw on his leg so he doesn't hurt Reze as he pulls her close. It is such a beautifully tragic story with many small details that make it seem realistically perfect
