Ultimately we aren't sure , but that description that Gabi made and the name drop , her presence . make it very believable she does exist . all possibilities are there ngl but the she is real and very important is the narrative pushed here. the ninja clan chef could either have made that illusion to make him a better warrior or pressure him or she does exist and still serves the same purpose also it make him give up on life very fast to not remember a wife the fact that it's the counter of TAO usage that made him loose most his memory of her , make it feel like she is indeed a real memory . I guess we will figure it out

Well the director did a bad job if they didnt want people to ship them. The positoning, the blushing, everyone around them are also blushing assuming its a lewd activity. Her saying shes a special ally and shit, just saying the director could have easily portrayed a different meaning with some minor changes
