Calling it right now the empire is gonna try and Kill Mark for that book. And dear god I pray they finally find out, if only a little bit, after they fuck around. Because they should be focusing everything on preparing for war with Treebeard, but they won't. They will say it's because they have other threats to focus on, and they do. But they can deal with those well enough. They are greedy, at best. And willful despots at worst. Not all of course, there is always something that works, but as we've seen, no real change has or will occur. Doomo, or another royal, will act again.

Tftc! The energy of the witches was delightful! A really cool chapter all around. Page 1: Sally and Lola got waylaid by people who really wanted to talk to Mark, but who were fine with talking to her, because some of them already had, apparently. They had contacted her through their company, Blackleaf, to talk about sponsoring teams. -> but who were fine with talking to Sally (her is ambiguous given both Sally and Lola were waylaid)

Feeling pretty weird bout the way that you are writing your queer characters. Sally started out being a lesbian and then somehow that stopped and now she is into Mark and was into Elliot, and Mark was ace but every passing chapter feels like he is being written straighter and straighter with his attraction to Isoko and previously to Aurora. It just feel weird to introduce queer characters only to walk their queerness back and have them now both just seemingly being straight. You've written queer characters well before and genuinely do trust the process, but this just feels so so strange.

I take it as a perfect example of sexuality being a spectrum. Mark was always figuring himself out and he’s still in that process 4 books in. I would encourage you to re-read Sally. There’s a big community out there. What’s representative for you does not make that the only way to present these characters.
