the aliens strategy is probably to adapt the body while they replicate within. where christine is getting nauseous due to the brood not fully finishing the changes within along with all the repairs and reinforcements they have to make to her body. So in the beggining the broods growth grows more slowly and cautiously waiting for the modifications to be complete but when they are finished they accelerate their growth exponentially

mmm, that actually makes a lot of sense, also, it really seems like her body was not 100% appropiate for this pregnancy, aliens are having to do a very high extra effort with her in all sense shahaha
