The rubbing is working!

The alien brood is probably calming down because they think that the vibrations from the rubbing could potentially be a host that they could infect so now they are now alert and listening to see if someone is neaby which if they hear someone elses voice would make them expel spores into the air.

If this is true i could see Christine using a method of infecting herself or someone else rubbing her belly and using a sound system playing a womans voice to trick the brood into thinking that there is someone in the same room as her causing the brood to expel the spores into the air in order to restock her supply of spores.
