Bring On The Bad Guys. Maybe Not So Many, Though. (Patreon)

One of the things I want to do here on the Patreon is gather together the drawings I've done of Marvel, DC and other comic book characters over the years. At least, the ones I've scanned before selling them at cons or through the mail.
I have a folder on my computer called "Real Frantic One" where I file all of these drawings and commissions, I was thinking about making a convention-only mini-comic reproducing the drawings along with the goofy write-ups I used to post about the characters on my old LJ. But self-publishing was never something I could get my head around, even the simplest mini or zine project intimidated me (despite living with someone who made a lot of zines), and after a while the possibility of spending time on something like a mini-comic was impossible. Not too mention the fact that making something to sell atcons has to be kind of simple when you only do a handful of shows a year.
I have scans of various commissions, pinups and sketches, I scanned the pencils for a number of them to show the client, sometimes I scanned the work-in-process because I was scared I'd screw up the pencils (or inks). Some of you have seen these if you're a long-time follower -- you might own one of these -- but hopefully the drawings will be something you folks will enjoy here, they might even make a nice PDF or series of PDFS down the line (and a few of the pieces might make for nice print-quality uploads). The drawing above of all the Silver Age Marvel villains was a piece I did for a charity auction almost a decade ago. The piece was small, about 6" by 10", at most, done on paper provided by the people running the event. I started a blown-up 16" by 22" version of it a few years ago (which some of you have seen me posting about on Twitter and Instagram here and there) -- modifying it and adding a lot more characters. I began it as a fun thing to work on for myself with no pressure attached, and then, of course, I felt pressured and anxious about it. It's actually not far from done, the top row with a lot of new characters is all that's left. And there are still characters I couldn't fit in that i wanted to, but I don't think I'll try an even larger version some day because I'm not that dumb. I hope. I overworked it, considering that it was supposed to be a cartoony, not-overly-textured piece, but that train left long ago, it's all crosshatched and worked over -- which reminds me, I learned a new term today that for some reason didn't burst into my head during a nightmare 40 years ago:
"Horror vacui" -- a fear or dislike of leaving empty spaces, especially in an artistic composition.
(Oh. Shit.)
Anyway, expect mostly Kirby and Ditko characters when I chose to do a pin-up to sell, some Batman stuff I was asked to draw Batman stuff (we are all asked to draw the goddamn Batman at some point) and some Batman stuff I drew to make fun of Batman stuff, a few odds and ends, et al. And whatever commissions or doodles I end up doing from here on in. I might even finish that goddamn Marvel villains piece.
Ecch. Sells. Eeyore!
(say it fast, and a Larry Lieber gets its wings!)
