Hey, folks, apologies for a quiet week here. I've been pretty busy/occupied, largely because of health-related stuff. Therapist, psychiatrist and periodontist, started physical therapy for my arm and neck, tomorrow I'm seeing the neurologist again. I have an appointment with the hand specialist in early January. The good thing is my hand's doing fairly okay. And my arm is in less pain from the meds I'm on, so I'm sleeping much better. The side effect I'm not crazy about is that the pain meds interacting with my anxiety meds can make me drowsy. Right now that's an okay trade-off. Drawing is a little weird, though. I have a little shaky line-itis and I have to really watch out that I don't screw up while inking. Penciling is less of a problem. I did some practice drawings, all but one went into the recycling bin. That's why there's been no new IG card art sales for a while. But I think the physical therapy stuff will help, I have a routine of stretches to do every day and they seem to be calming things down somewhat. Last night I did something weird with my hand trying to turn the pages on a book and my pointer finger froze beneath my middle finger for a half a minute. That hasn't been happening for a while, so I guess I have to pay better attention to what I'm doing to avoid whatever it is that causes that to happen.
Luckily my insurance has covered most of this stuff. I'm worried about the periodontal situation, though, and of course that's the most expensive situation. Waiting to hear back on what I'd be responsible for to get the surgery done on my gums. I know I can't go the laser surgery route, which is a (holy crap) ten thousand dollar ticket.
Contracts on a few other things are done. Some comics-related stuff, and a merch-related thing.
Second variant cover sketch was approved, but I haven't been able to work on it much. Need to bang that out, get another cover done for something of mine, and get back to all the late stuff.
Hope the pre-holiday season (or full-on holiday season, as far as the stores and advertisers are concerned) is being kind to everyone. I've got exactly less-than-zero holiday spirit, but that's been the routine for the last few years. Halloween was nothing, Thanksgiving was nothing. I might go to my sister's for a small Hannukah dinner. I'm more excited by the possibility of seeing Godzilla Minus One next week with friends. I still haven't even seen Godzilla Final Wars or Shin Godzilla, forget the American movies, that's how out of the kaiju loop I've been all these years. I'm out of almost all the loops these days.
Do they still have loops? Are loops a thing, still?
More later, soon.
