I thought this turn was more interesting than Connor just following Thomas's requests.  He's not the sidekick.  It also creates some drama about who they free.

Annie arrives to continue her narratives, and prevent him from taking any action against Connor.  Although the next page goes along with Connor as he struggles with deciding between his wife, and the original plan.
