RE: Gary not being a super scientist despite position not involving magic It’s less that Fionna and Cake’s world is JUST ‘there’s no magic’. It’s almost like everything is through a ‘Coffeshop AU fanfic’ lens. Very literal ‘boring and mundane’ perceptions filtered through Simon’s experience. For example, in season 1, Fionna’s glitching turns a combat knife (something that definitely exists in their world) into a butter knife. Hence the role of scientist getting ‘mundane-ed’ down into baker.

I guess I just think Simon is just to friggin smart himself for this to fully work. XD Makes me wonder how boring Simon’s inner world would have been if Simon had ACTUALLY lived a totally boring life, instead of the globetrotting, love filled one he had. XD Fionna World would just be paint drying land.
