Hi guys!  Yet another 5 hour breaking Book review!  Even though it is only 2 chapters and one of those chapters is less than 13 MINUTES in audio book! XD BUT, we have a lot to discuss!

Loved these chapters, and even think the movie made a couple of nice changes here and there!  I give my thoughts, and then go through your in the Book Club!

Thank you all for taking part!  Sorry this turned out to be slightly later than expected (if you follow me on Twitter, you will know that all hell broke loose this weekend XD).

One thing I forgot to ask is - are Animagus always 'non-magical' creatures?  But I forgot. .-.

Oh!  And if you are reading this wondering where Buffy is, SO SORRY! It is my main priority to get it to you tomorrow, without fail!

Ron's massive, smelly, disgusting, ugly feet!!! 50:45 I think Snape uses the term 'Headmaster' both to distance himself from Dumbledore and impress upon Fudge that Dumbledore is perhaps not doing his utmost to keep Harry safe. 1:28:30 There is a number of spells Harry could use, but spells make noise, especially if they're done incorrectly or without finesse. Harry deliberately chooses not to use magic here. 1:40:30 The question about whether ghosts can cast magic is an interesting one. And there isn't really a definitive answer. However, as you point out with Myrtle, they can certainly affect the world around them some. 1:52:10 AH. But Veggie. Who is the last person to see or speak to Black before Harry and Hermione rescue him? Dumbledore. Perhaps there were protections, and Dumbledore removed them? Perhaps he locked Black in and told him to wait for rescue, just like he locked the Hospital Wing doors? :D 2:08:00 You be careful with that Elf hate. You'll have SPEW after you Veggie. :D 3:08:00 We'll get to Veritaserum, but not for a little while yet. 3:21:00. Hey, maybe Voldemort would taste nice to a Dementor? Just a nice tasty morsel. Finally, whilst Snape is brave. He isn't "stand-in-front-of-a-werewolf-and-let-it-swipe-at-you" brave. Book Snape would never do that, but that's not to say he wouldn't defend the Trio with spells to slow down or impede the Werewolf.

Hey Veggie, I was the person who commented that Sirius's patronus being a dog was fitting because his primary characteristic seems to be being loyal, to a fault at times, hence a dog animagus being so fitting.

Book Snape being knocked out while movie Snape protecting trio is one of the first changes that shows how different those characters actually are. Can't say anything else without spoilers ;)

Regarding you saying that Fudge was thinking "my only role here is getting Sirius kissed", that is also a James Potter quote from when he tried to be Sirius' wingman at a party once. :-) (Ron's massive feet)

Ron's massive feet! I finally made it to the end of the video. There's no way for me to watch a 5 hours long video in one go (not complaining!). I just want to mention a few more points: "Snape and Black are being petty gits." I think that sums them up very nicely :) About Veritaserum - yes, it is a truth potion. Umbridge used it in the movie to interogate students. I think Snape even told her she'd used the last of it on Cho Chang. But it was only a mention so I don't blame you for not remembering it.

Ron's massive feet doesn't change the fact that Fudge is absolutely NOT in charge over the Black situation :P Yes, he might outrank Dumbledore on paper, but he turns to Dumbledore for help in all sorts of matters and only pulls rank when he is pushed into a corner. ^^ I also completely agree with you, Veggie - Pettigrew has no wand. I always watched it as if he was trying to attack Black and Lupin with the wand and when it was knocked out, he did the next best thing and transformed to run away :)

They majorly tone down how awful Snape is in the movies. You tend to make excuses for Snape's actions because you want to think the best of everyone. However, Snape was lying through his teeth. He knew perfectly well that the kids weren't bewitched or under any spell. He just didn't want anyone to actually listen to them or believe them because of his blind hatred of Sirius. I'm not saying that Sirius doesn't have the same blind hatred of Snape but you tend to give Snape a lot of leeway when he's obviously being a jerk. Everyone is pretty much aware that dementors are blind but I seriously doubt that anyone knew how ineffective they were against an anamagi or a regular animal. People avoid the dementors like the plague so I doubt anyone had done any in depth research on them. Also, as you said, anamagi are very rare so how would they possibly know how dementors react to them. As to Dumbledore having possibly used a time turner before every one forgets that at this point Dumbledore is still over 100 years old. Maybe once upon a time the time turners weren't quite so regulated. I'll try to remember to bring this up in more detail at a certain point in a later book.

Squib = disabled person in wizarding world ~ blind or deaf person. Squib have magic bot can't use it only a wizard can see a dementor - muggles can't se dementors - Squibs can se dementors + squib can see Hogwarts for what it truly is, not what a muggle sees 2 muggles can have a Squib, if a Wizard or Squib is in the family = magic is in the family if magic is in the family you can have a child of magic Squib or wizard

I thought a squib was a non-magical child of two magical parents. Because if the parents have no magical ability, it's pretty standard for the kid not to have any either, even if there was a magical ancestor somewhere. And I'd think even with half-bloods (not like Harry, but like Voldemort where one parent has no magical ability), it'd be pretty 50/50 whether the kid has magic or not. So I always thought a squib was an anomaly, kind of like how a muggle-born has magic when neither parent has any.

as much as I do not like Snapes actions (and I am a Snape fan) - I am not sure, how he could have known that they were nt under a spell. Maybe that Is truely what he thinks and the Ministry was not able to tell who was imperiused in the first Voldy war - so what makes you think, Snape can tell they are not bewitched? I am with you - he does not want anyone to listen to them (because he does not want anyone to stop thinking about Sirius punishment) I still think he may be under the impression they are bewitched. I have said it before regarding Sirius and his head bumping actions I can't prove he did it on purpose - so innocent until proven guilty And for me the same applies here with Snape. We can not prove is pure spite that makes him say the "bewitched" part - maybe he truly was thinking they are bewitched. That said - still do not like his intervention.

Why can't both be true? Snape can perform legilimency after all. Perhaps Snape saw in Harry's mind that Harry believed Black was innocent and that it was really Pettigrew who betrayed Lily and James. Because he believes that such a series of events are impossible, he constructs a scenario in which Harry and the rest are Confunded. Because in his mind, that's the only way Harry would think that Black didn't betray his parents. It must also be said that if the Trio were Confunded, they would act the same way.

I have a godson, and yes, the main idea with that is that I'll take care of him if his parents can't for any reason. There are some responsibilities for godparents while the actual parents are still fine as well, to varying degrees (in my case I'm almost a third parent), but it's mainly about ensuring that the child will be cared for by someone the parents trust, if anything happens. On a different topic (can anyone tell me how to start a new paragraph on here?) I think of Book!Padfoot as a Newfoundland, rather than the movie's Great Dane -- huge, shaggy, and a good swimmer. It seems to fit the description better. What do you think?

You have no idea how often I have been impressed with your insight and deductions, especially based on the incomplete information the HP movies often provide. There have been so many times I've thought, wow, I can't believe he picked up on that with how little they explained it. I am regularly struck by your intelligence, and since I think it so often, it felt like something I ought to say 😁

Agreed. And he asks a lot of incredibly deep questions that I certainly hadn't considered. "Can Ghosts do Magic?" being an example. Because there isn't really a hard answer.
