G'day all,

  • TL;DR:

  • The melioidosis is back and I'm in hospital. Have been for a week.

  • I'm not in any danger and I'm actually feeling fine.

  • This has not been great for getting back to the writing.

The good news is, I'm feeling close to fully recovered. The bad news is that feelings can lie to us. I am currently back in hospital with a flare up of the same thing that almost killed me. Fortunately, this time it is in no way life threatening, or even debilitating at all. Just lingering infection because I had to take the second-choice antibiotic, due to being massively allergic to the better option. The only reason I'm in hospital is that I need various testing and regular regimen of antibiotics, complicated by the fact that I can't take the best one for treating what I have.

What sucks is that I was going to try getting back to writing full time, and see how that went. Instead, I went to hospital. I have been doing some writing, but it's not an environment conducive to getting words on the page.

I really am feeling fine. They even let me wander out of the hospital and go get food, which has been a blessing. I would be a lot crabbier if I was stuck eating hospital food again.

Not much else to say. It's a waiting game while we see how I respond to the antibiotics. Hopefully, I'll be back home soon and able to take a real crack at writing. Until I know how I go with writing consistently, I won't know how I'll hold up on an actual work schedule. I'm still hoping to start chapters again early in the new year, but obviously this has dropped a wet cloth on my plans, so I have no definitive answers. I'll update you as I figure out more.

At least you caught it early enough to NOT go back to square one. I'd hate to see you have to go through all that again. Kinda like I'd hate to see anyone go through chemo! It was yucky!!
