Great chapter. Damn Shirt. Well done, on the novels in general. As much as I love this genre so many writers focus on either the action and fights or the esoteric elements way too much. It’s just not needed. It feels like they’re trying to reach a quota to justify our purchase. I’m finding myself skim through these portions more often. Never once had to skim through a single word you’ve written. You manage to make every word feel warranted. You write characters that are so alive that you feel a real connection with them. And even after your much needed hiatus, I remembered each character, as if I just ran into an old friend. That’s rare for me. I’ve read entire series and watched completed shows and couldn’t tell you the names of most characters. 😂 I know we’re moving closer to The End and I’ll be sad when it’s over (especially if there is no spin off😰), I’m so glad I randomly downloaded this novel 5 years ago. Anyways TFTC!

One thing I want to say in reference to people questioning the relationship choices the characters make. Please stop assuming the characters would make the choices you would. Stop wondering why they don’t make better, logical, or rational choices. It’s not about you- it’s about them and their lived experiences that influence them. A running theme with this story is that no one is perfect. Despite magic, power, and immortality. Just let the story unfurl. See if they learn from their decisions or if they even get to live to regret them.

I might be wrong, but I think that Itsuki is acting as he should be. It can’t be okay to know that your wife is spending months training with a handsome prince from another universe and not making anytime for her husband. Taika is right that Itsuki is acting like Jason, but honestly, who wouldn’t act like Jason when you’re in an exceptionally bad situation with no good or right decisions to make. Maybe Akari will understand and recover the marriage, but it’s looking like a running gag with Shirt wrecking relationships. Neil made a bad choice with Cassandra, but what would you do if the woman you loved was so obviously fixated on her ex. The ex who is your friend that you have failed to protect and heal again and again. The main theme of HWFWM is that in reality there are rarely any good choices, and most of the time you can only make a choice that helps as many and hurts as few as possible. I really hope that Shirt subverts our expectations in a positive way this time, because I’m tired of seeing bad things happen to good people since I get enough of that on the evening news. I don’t want it in my fictional stories too. BTW I’m just griping, you’re an amazing author who has made an excellent story

Hey, I totally understand. I was disappointed when Rufus grew the Afro -- if for no other reason that it eliminated the moisturizing jokes -- and was immediately and completely on team no Afro. That's the internet at its most fun, as long as people have a good time with it and don't take it too seriously! I've never forgotten Jason's description of Rufus the first time he saw him get out of the cannibals' cage as "stupidly handsome"...😊

Hmm Idk... I can't say Itsuki was entirely wrong about his wife and Valdis... she may not be pshyically cheating, but i'm pretty sure a handful of times over a decade, she was emotionally wishing for a change. Still, I could put it all on, Itsuki. How many yrs did he take to ask her out? How many walls of the house did he put up a poster of Jason? And he's probably not doing 'wonders' in the bedroom either. He most defitnitely dont seem like a dude w/ B.D.E. #justsayin. But despite it all, she didn't leave or physically cheat. She stuck it out. Should've held on buddy. Voiced what you needed to say. WHo knows, maybe she is practicing so hard in order to keep YOU safe! That's worth a sit down, right?

2nd Note: I hope Jason doesn't plan on going to war w/ Knowledge . I mean she could be a real ally if 'his ego' moves aside and lets him see that. Plus he and Gabrielle just started being cordial. Nor do I hope he goes to war against, Dominion, or Hero etc... Messengers and vamps are still a problem right?
