Isn't this wonderful?! As far as I know, this is the only one of its kind in the states, and the owner invited me down for a look at it!

I want to know how many times you tooted that horn

Jorg Rademaker

So, you need a small valve for your electric buggy. Problem solved!

Seems a lot smaller than 1/2 scale. My father did his apprenticeship as a boilermaker in the late ‘60s. Spent much of my childhood going to traction engine rallies with him. Would love one of these kits.

I can confirm it is half scale. 13' long roughly. They are great kits, they are commonplace on English rally fields nowadays.

Robert is a bit of a giant too, which makes me and the engine look miniature!

It looks amazing. Seeing it on screen must’ve skewed my perspective as, like you mention, I’ve seen loads at my local steam rallies here in NW England. I really want a stationary engine to show but when I mentioned it to my wife she replied that I already had one…in my Alfa Romeo that hasn’t moved for 12 months. That hurt 😹

Anonymous

Thank you, it belongs over there really! And hey, if you get the alfa running, you will need a new stationary engine! 🤣

Took me longer than I'd like to admit to make the connection that I knew who Tanner was. He has video of me hanging out the window of a Fiat 500 Abarth as we chased UP 844 through Eastern Oklahoma :)

In 2005, I was in rural Northamptonshire in England and drove by a couple of scale steam vehicles trundling along the road. My relatives thought that I was bonkers when I subsequently described the encounter, but now I know that I'm not crazy! (Well, not due to this particular event anyway.)

GrayRaceCat

Ouch! By that measure I currently have THREE stationary engines! ALL Volvos!
