I can imagine if you got one but needed to replace the “defroster” just going into a parts store for a replacement or just comparing hair dryers to see if they would work in the car.

I was thinking Pacer when I first saw it. So I'm glad you said it at the end. There are also some cartoon cars that have been drawn like it as well. I was just at an EV show this weekend at the Boyertown Auto Museum where they had a Rabbit conversion. It was one of three hundred. It also had the four speed still. As an EV owner. I'd love to have some gears but they aren't needed anymore or so we are told.

Why would they put the fake wheel wells or just have a pocket on each side of the battery box? That car legitimately has as much wasted space as my 83 Cadillac hearse. Which is impressive since mine is 21’ long.

Any idea why the transmission is so bad? Are they all like that or just this one because I’d be curious to know how they messed up the implementation that bad.

My only (and I do mean **only**) complaint is that you slightly spoil the hair dryer punchline by showing it in the intro. It would have been so, so much funnier to have been entirely clueless until you talked about it in the video. Maybe just blur it out in the intro if possible? As is, I kinda expected the hair dryer when you brought up the defrost cuz I saw it already, although briefly.

Hi, Declan here, owner of this car. From my experience with electreks all transmissions are this bad. They get slightly better in later years but never very good

Hi! I’m Declan the owner of this car. It has so much wasted space because the interior parts were taken from an electrek hatchback which would normally have rear seats. Instead of the floor being, well, on the floor they raised it up to look cool I guess??? Beyond that I just think they weren’t very good at making cars

I recognized those taillights the instant I saw them. Some high school friends and I put a hotrod small block in a Chevy Monza Spyder. It's the only car I've ever been legitimately terrified of. It was quick for the era, but the suspension was just completely inadequate. If you put your foot into it, the thing would shove you back in your seat, and then try diving into the ditch. Under hard acceleration it tried to go everywhere but where you had it pointed. It was only good for converting tires to smoke. After about a week and multiple near death experiences we pulled the engine, dropped in a smog era 305 and sold it.

Great video! There are at least two more of these that pop up on the craigslist around Denver every now and again, I believe. Non-running. I am too afraid to go look at one as I might buy it.

I would also guess that one benefit of the wasted space in the back is that if it didn't have all that wasted space, people would be tempted to overload it by actually putting some amount of cargo in it.

That is just so perfectly the distilled essence of late-1970s electric car gestalt. In all of its horror and glory. I love it so much, and I really want Declan to pull a mold off of that and make a fiberglass replica body that I can use as a body kit on a Model 3.
