It's a super short video, but I promised it, so here it is! Plus Ecoflow wanted me to promote their Prime Day sale, so this was a great place for that ad spot.

Very interesting idea about making the bus electric! Since the UQM motor you mentioned is so pricey, would you ever consider using old motors from scrapped cars instead? e.g. the motor out of an old Prius seems to be roughly half as powerful as that UQM motor, but you could always put two in. Maybe not the fanciest solution but it would be much cheaper, come with the inverters, and there are already projects that can control the inverter for EV use (openinverter.org). I guess you could even include the engine and generator to charge the batteries like you mentioned. I'm not sure how much an old Prius goes for in the US, but here they are fairly plentiful and they seem like a very interesting source of useful parts.

Damien Maguire on YouTube has also done a lot of good work reverse engineering Tesla drive units and open sourcing his interfaces boards for them.

For ideas on the bus diesel electric system look up Edison motors they’re making a diesel electric semi. They have videos on it at least on tic tok. And they’re using a Tesla motor as a placeholder for now.
