These were mostly for me. The mechanics and engineering of these are fascinating! I spent a good while after I got back from the museum just trying to understand the Model T gearbox. I still don't understand how reverse works. It looks like it should be another forward gear.

My grandfather had a model T in the 1920's and his honeymoon was a drive up the east coast from North Carolina up to New York (from where there are plenty of photos). Considering the fact that roads in those days were mostly local dirt roads, well, a bit of a crazy thing to do.
