Hello everyone,

True Facials v0.57 is on the way! Since this is a major update, we decided to release a Technical Test version. If you encounter issues, please report them in our Discord's Bug-Report channel.

Important Note: Because of the new features, we have changed the hotkey buttons:

  • Hold [ `] Tilde Button for Tooltips, previous [Alt].

  • Hold [Shift] Button to move multiple characters, previous [Ctrl].

  • [Esc] Button to open/close the Menu, previous [ `].

I. Characters:

As with prior Technical Test versions, the roster is kept smaller to help us focus more on new features. Everyone will be available in the full release.

II. New Maps:

  • Japanese Hot Springs Bathroom

  • Convenience Store

  • Feudal Japan Tea-shop

  • Dueling-ground Island

The maps assets are still under development. Visual bugs and unstable performance are expected.

III. New Lighting System & Customizable Skyboxes.

  • The rendering system has been completely overhauled, allowing for much more physically accurate lighting than before.

  • As such, you can add your own skybox, which will alter the lighting of your scene! Simply put them as PNG into "TrueFacials\Mods\Skyboxes" and click RMB on the sky to cycle!

IV. Material Control:

  • You can freely customize the look of any individual part of a character! Including their skin, hair and outfits.

  • While holding Alt:

    • Drag LMB on a part to change its color.

    • Drag RMB to change its material properties (metallic, smoothness/wetness).

    • Click RMB to change presets or reset to base.

    • Click LMB to copy the last change to the current part.

V. Body Canvas [Experimental - Pro Version]

  • Make you own piece of body art with dynamic paint and water!

  • Paint will stick and flow on any part of a character, water will clear the paint as they flow and make the surface wet.

  • While holding Ctrl:

    • Drag LMB on characters to paint.

    • Drag RMB to wash paint with water.

    • Scroll up/down to change the paint preset.

  • Hotkey B is used to clear all paint and fluids.

VI. Other Improvements (incomplete):

  • Multithreaded animation system, much better performance for higher number of characters.

  • Many enhancement for the skin, including pubic hair, skin pores and better blending.

  • More posing capabilities, hands can now grab arms (though not both hands on both arms at the same time).

  • More will be detailed in the full release.

VII. Known Issues:

  • The game starts with setting Anti Aliasing: TAA, please change to FSR3.

  • GPU performance might be more intensive.

  • An issue where characters could sometimes fall through the ground.

  • Some body parts and outfits cannot be painted on. In some cases, painted textures may appear pixelated.

  • Loading very large PNG files for sky-maps (over 16k res) may cause the game to crash.

VIII. October's Poll result and King's Choice

Here are the Results of the October Poll

  • King's Choice: Alcina Dimitrescu (Resident Evil: Village) by Karon Hui.

IV. Devlog:

This is quite awkward. As you know, we were supposed to release v0.57 with the multithreaded animation system. However, I started some rendering tests after that and fell right into a rabbit hole.

In fact, it is THE rabbit where every devs falls into, and they're lucky to get out with a wrong answer. Because there is no right answer if you need dynamic lighting, quality and performance.

While we might not have found the mythical perfect solution, we have found one that provide the look and capabilities that TF needs. The new rendering system is what allowed us to work on Body Canvas and Material Control, which is what we (and possibly you) have wanted for a long time.

More good news, we have a 4th team member (and the second programmer)! He had actually worked a lot on the new features and is proving to be vital to our future development. There is much more that we want to do with TF, and now we're more geared for it!

ok, what standard version to load that has all characters up to date, or how far back do i need to scroll to download mods?

The v0.57-Technical Test only has 6 characters from the base game and 10 new characters from the mod files. You can find both the download link for the game and the mods file in the post “True Facials v0.57 Technical Test - Standard version Download”. Please note that characters from the previous version will not work correctly with this version.
