The Sketch of the Month prompt for December- couldn't help it, we had to go all out for this one!

Expanded Nightmare lore- their existential nature, customs, hierarchy, military archetypes, and more. Nine pages packed with brand new art for you to explore.

I've still get lore on Dreamworld cults in my sights, but wanted to get the Nightmare content out quickly since we've already covered the major religions.

Voting is going on now for the January Sketch of the Month and Fanart, so if you haven't yet be sure to jump in there and guide the ship! Looking forward to seeing where we go next.

Death of Ink

Oh what a lore binge!! So much to process here! Nightmares being these entities that represent the void that creation now fills and wish to return it to that state is really terrifying, certainly helps explain their motives, especially Void's, for pure annihilation of everything. I also like the reason for why they seek to invade our minds while we sleep, and the reveal of Void's chief enforces having the names of several demonic figures from our religions is a nice touch! So they grow as fruit from an evil tree? I like it. The "Great Temptation" is a very interesting concept, the idea a Nightmare could actually possibly forgo their original dark nature in favor of embracing being part of creation and therefore life should the normal discipline system they use to fight against that ever falter certainly sparks a lot of thoughts. Would be cool if we get to see that temptation in play at some point in the Saga. I wonder if Nabonidus was originally a Tempter before becoming what he is now....

Now I can’t stop thinking about a nightmare falling into the great temptation. It makes so much sense! A body is bound by its chemical reactions, and partaking in creature comforts and delicious food can lead one to a path of indulgence. I do wonder something though, that one evil guy that makes sandmen (sorry, I can’t remember his name for the life of me), is he a nightmare too? I can’t remember if he was just a follower of the nightmares or one itself; if so, he can’t be very liked by being a “creator” of sorts, huh… also, what would happen if a dream keeper came into contact with a shard? Is that something we’ll see in the next chapters? Aaaah this post made me want to read the whole story again! I can’t wait to see what happens in the next volume!!

I always had the theory that humans are particularly embedded in creation, since we're engine's of creation ourselves. Every world we've ever drempt up, video game world, books, Manga etc etc is its own little pocket of creation. The Egyptians believed a person would live for as long as they were remembered. Maybe the universe works that way too. If humans were made in God's image, maybe we branch creation ever farther

Interesting read, explains a lot about the nightmares and their goals/system and mindset. The drawings of course are amazing and scary ^^. I do have one question though, if the Nightmares are trying to affect humanity and the Dreamkeepers are in their way, Do the Dreamkeepers themselves know or are at least aware of humanity ? Is it their main goal to defend humanity or are they focusing more on their own world/issues ? Perhaps they think humanity is a type of myth ? Reminds me a little bit of the film TRON where you have users (Humans) and Programs who look like their users. It's been a minute since I started this series, I'll have to go back and reread the whole thing from the beginning sometime. Amazing comic^^

Dreamkeepers

Historically, different dreamkeeper civilizations have had different theories about things. However, current day Anduruna is pretty clueless.
