If you had to pick one, would you take a Sten MkII or an Ingram M10/9? This applies specifically to the guns in their original factory configurations; no Lage products allowed! It's hard to come up with a mass-production SMG that isn't obviously better than a MkII Sten, but the stock Ingrams might make the cut...the MAC is a more compact package, but has even worse handling than the Sten in some ways (which is a remarkable achievement!). So if you have to pick one, which would it be?

With the M10/9 you get 'Nam vibes and gangsta vibes. With the Sten you can only larp as someone who got forced to fight in WW2 and got stuck with a Sten.

Granted, I'm in Sweden, so none, but aside from that and being in the Home Guard, I would consider the MAC because it is small and concealable. It might be a good option for urban/subterranean guerilla operations, especially with a suppressor. But would it be possible to accept KSP m/45 mags and their (from what I understand) hotter ammo?

David T Klein

Easy. Stench Gun. It was made to whack Nazis. I want one for that reason alone.

Kenneth Marshall

Funny for my first machinegun I decided on a MAC-10 vs Sten because one popped up locally for a great price with original suppressor. Its a Powder Springs which is local to me so the regional history and collectability is of personal interest. I ended up getting into the early powder Springs guns and supressors. I can shoot my PS MAC-10 very well and I prefer the original configuration. The trick is trigger time and practice - You can do mag dumps and into a tight area and bursts - Yes it can be done and it can actually be used semi-auto. I do have an Atlanta PD demo from 1972 that has some actual police use - so they were used.

When is John getting his own Channel? I would love listening to him go on about historic machineguns.

Sten Mk2 fails to hold B. MAC-10 successfully rushes B every time.

Sten, my first machinegun I owned, it never fails to bring a smile to the shooter firing it. It is very easy to train a new shooter on, rate of fire is not intimidating, very little muzzle climb in full auto fire.

call me crazy. with its history the sten looks cool to me. cheap or not. one can't look at the silly gat without imagine brit paratroopers holding some bridge, can you. that "series" kind of screams for: uzi standard or mp5.

Charles Riggs

Chuck Taylor once wrote that the Ingram SMG was only suited for assassinations inside a phone booth.

Rick Notkin

I can't afford either one. 8~(
