Great video, thanks! Island of Misfit toys.

Adrian Perry

A very thought provoking video. You might have felt it rambled too much, but it wasn't a topic that is really clear cut, and needed talking through fully. Thank you!

The same is true, of course, in the world of military rifles, as we all know and as you've talked about so many times before. Great ideas poorly executed. Well-executed bad ideas. Terrible ideas poorly executed! There are great examples of all of them. Fun topic, some hilarious examples you've got there. You could fill another couple of hours of video with more.

Roger Martin

Definitely waiting for the H9 😢 to make an appearance. Super interesting video, thanks for making and sharing it!

EyeBall

This topic fits well with your channel, as you have covered many firearms that are unsuccessful due to design, manufacturing, marketing or financial issues.

The Zip .22 is the worst gun for a left hander... or right hander... Its just the worst gun Ive attempted to fire.

Guido Schriewer

good: simple. designed by JMB. bad? that darn zip22! hard to think of any worser that that. I would take a two shot SA derringer before the zip.

Paul Ingraham

Well, I'm one of those that got suckered by the Remington R51. It now sits in its green box fired only once. When I got it and disassembled it I realized what a disappointing pistol it was. Guess we're allowed one of those mistakes per lifetime as a monument to creativity that failed. Thanks Ian for this story.

Speaking of a gun that could end up a failure….y’all check out a project gun I’m designing. It’s going to be a Glock-AR15 lower reciever amalgamation so I can get the same set of controls between my pistol and rifle. It’s @newguntx or NewGun on YouTube. Subscribe to follow its progress.

This is one of those videos that applies to so much more than just firearms. I could watch hours worth of discussion about manufacturing methods and how they bit various companies in the ass... the whole "Learn from the mistakes of others. You can’t live long enough to make them all yourself." thing....
