hello everyone, I'm working on improving stability, uncached full files will take a while to load and imports are a bit backlogged both due to bandwidth. Thank you.

*** Question window is closed - I recorded the video this morning. ***

I am driving home tomorrow from Desert Brutality, and realized it would be a fine time to record a long-form, multi-question Q&A. So, what would you like to ask? Please keep in mind that I don't have any reference material or research time before answering, and question will be answered just from memory.

With Russia requiring you to own a smoothbore firearm for five years before you can own a rifled one, why have companies not loopholed their way through it by offering flechette guns?

In Chassepot to FAMAS, you describe how the naval versions of the Kropatschek were left in the white. What is the rationale for doing that? Wouldn't leaving metal in the white make it more susceptible to corrosion? That sounds like something Elbonia would do. More generally, why do we see things like bolts left in the white?

I know SKS 10 round stripper clips have problems but they're still faster than 5 round clips when it comes to reloading. Despite having multiple weapons in WW1 and WW2 that require two or more clips to reload there are no 10 round clips for these weapons. I have to believe that use of existing bandoliers, production tools etc were a factor but was any work on 10 round clips for weapons that were stuck with 5 round reloads done?

Would a modernised FG42, in an intermediate cartridge, have a place in modern militaries or is the side loading magazine so awkward that any special magic of the FG42 is lost in an ambidextrous control world.

What fictional gun (such as a star wars blaster, aliens pulse rife or bolter from 40K) would you most like to do a Forgotten Weapons episode on?

Can you talk about headstamps next book? And what happened between you and Max, his book is no longer on your website, I messaged him on Facebook and he said his book was put on hold due to “current political situation”

Maybe this is coming too late but you could go through your setup for the DB, how did it work, what did/didn´t work, what are your impressions, where to get it etc. Or maybe you can make a seperate video of your setup?

I have two questions for you to hopefully answer in either a full Q & A video or one of your "Ask Ian" segments: (Second time asking) 1. I know you mentioned that your goal was to hopefully cover "all the guns" at some point. How do you keep track of that goal? How do you really know what "all the guns" are with all of the random prototypes and one-offs? How do you keep accurate tracking of all the guns you have already covered? (It's got to be more than 2,000 at this point) 2. As an avid shotshell competitor, I was always taught that if you had a bad round, or even a round that had the primer dented but not discharged that you would put them in a bucket full of water overnight and then toss them. How do you properly disarm a bad or dented pistol and/or rifle rounds? Today's rounds seem to be watertight. Please let me know on either or both if you can. Thanks, Jesse James

If Mannlicher had lived past 1903, where do you think his designs would have gone? Do you think he would have developed an autoloading rifle from his straight pull rifles like several people later did to M95s? Would his ornate handguns have morphed into more traditional looking locked breech designs?

Recently you did a video about the Rogers and Spencer revolver and said it was probably the best civil war revolver made. Compared to the 1860 Army Colt or the slightly earlier Navy Colt, just what degree of difference is there. Was there a large difference in quality or are you talking 85% against 92% to perfection? Thanks for the views and opinions Adrian

Why are there not more pump action rifles or bolt/lever action shotguns? What are the advantages and disadvantages of both systems?

Hi Ian, If rifles like the Winchester '66 used a 2-prong rimfire firing pin, why don't modern 22 rimfires use the same idea for more reliablity?

Did you miss the news? There's an embargo on Russia due to their invasion of Ukraine. Where have you been all year?

Bruce Brodnax

Don't think it is so much a qualitative difference, it's just the best quality in conjunction with design. It is the basis for the Ruger Old Army, which other than its modern materials and production isn't much superior to the R&S in any meaningful cap&ball way. Meanwhile, the ROA is recognized as the best C&B revolver ever made [in production quantities, not talking one-offs here.]

Bruce Brodnax

Because flechette-throwers make lousy hunting guns. And most people in Russia who want to go thru the hassle of firearms licensing probably use them for bagging bunnies eating the garden at the dacha...
