Experimental Romanian Paratrooper PKM (ad-free) (Patreon)

Romania adopted the PKM in 1966, and began manufacturing their own direct copy at Cugir. In the 1990s, the plant designed a model intended for paratroopers, with a shortened barrel and unique side folding stock. Romanian special operations and paratroop units tested them, but declined to purchase any - funding was tight and the breakup of the eastern bloc meant offensive troops like paratroopers were less of priority. A total of only 400 of these guns were made, and all of them sold to export clients. This one is also fitted with a picatinny optics mount a tai-rail handguard made specifically for it by B&T.

I'm not sure whether I ought to be ashamed of this, but I actually think the gun looks pretty cool ^^; Maybe it's because I always think it's fascinating to see guns made/modified for paratroops or concealed carry or the like, where the designers had to really sit down and think "what parts could we remove/change/leave out without making the gun unserviceable, both in the mechanical/theoretical sense and the more practical, user effectiveness-sense?" :) Great video as always, Ian! :D

ohNO! they went with such a cheesy plasticfantastic VG/bipod?! on a gpmg? wow. who came up with that idea. now frankly when was the last time any para's did the last combat jump? yeah super secretsquirrel elite troops.. ok. but troops dropped in numbers... paratroop model?

In the US Army? 26 March 2003, 954 paratroopers from the 173rd Airborne Brigade jumped into Northern Iraq. Frankly, does that work for ya?

ok but with todays level of air to air or ground to air defense a bird full of troops is some risk, isn't it. not that was completely safe say in the 40s over france but still... frankly thought it would be a bunch of choppers rather than jumping.
