The talk about vices makes me think Bright Somber Edge Sword is in the Renegade realm, and this way of splitting is how members of his sect handle the renegade madness. It would explain a bit how untouchable he is.

Big Brother Xiao Nan! I quite liked Somber Edge. He’s a little brusque, but Jin did nearly kill Bright Sword. He’s a lot more personable than Bright Sword too, must come with being the weaker self? He can’t just grandstand and look down on people, he’s gotta put effort into his fights.
