Streaming video technology has progressed quite a bit since the 90s and 00s, but it's still pretty simple. Usually a video streaming site will use a system called DASH, which essentially a playlist of the chunks of each stream (usually separated audio and video). This allows for greater granularity of control and better responsiveness to connection quality changes and changes in settings. The good news is that you can totally still download your videos so you can watch them fully offline - it just takes a little more work. The DASH manifest format isn't hard, so scripting something isn't hard, and there are existing tools as well, such as youtube-dl. I'm sure there are browser plugins as well, which might make the experience more transparent and obviate the need for removing videos you've watched.

The buffering video thing I used to do all the time. I would queue up multiple tabs of episodes of anime at the local place ahead internet and then go home where we didn't have internet and watch those episodes of anime once they were fully loaded. God I missed the good old days.

BTW, I have (allegedly) downloaded all the old videos (including comments) if anyone wants them (no idea how to transfer them though). Should be about 1 TB of MxR Plays, about 175 GB of MxR (the original), and the rest of the channels I have are quite a lot smaller.

Henry is correct. Youtube disabled whole-video buffering several years ago, actually. I'm surprised he only noticed in the past couple of months. I used to turn videos onto high quality, then leave them to buffer for several minutes before watching. Alas, we are yet again restricted by our shitty internet.

Its mostly not necessary on youtube if you have decent internet. But other websites don't deliver enough bandwidth so even with gigabit speeds you'll buffer. And these days most sites don't let you pre-buffer to fix it...

For context, Panty Raids were vastly more common in the 70's and 80's. A lot of old College movies may mention or have a raid occur, one also occurs in one of the Police Academy movies, I think its the 2nd one.
