Mackenzie was not the first investor in Amazon nor was she a founder. She did early accounting and company structure planning. Those are important things, but she was not a founder, and neither Jeff nor Mac have claimed she was, but also neither disagrees she deserved the settlement. So her role was big enough without inflating her status. I am sure Bezos wishes he didn't have to lose so much money, but at the same time he didn't appeal or continue litigation, both of which he could have.
