I hadn't heard of this show until you guys posted this reaction video - which I still haven't seen yet. I watched episode 1 from season 1 yesterday and loved it, told my best friend about it this morning. I just watched 4 more episodes tonight. I have to pause. I feel something like my heart wants to burst out of my chest. Really, is this why it's called Heartstopper? I've never seen anything like this! I'm verklempt! Will catch up tomorrow...

Well I have to say, you two have so much more self-control than I do...new seasons of shows I watch like this come on and I am totaling feasting of the entire season buffet. Haha

You aren't alone in that feeling. I know many people who have watched it and had this sweet story consume them. 😂 Two things in it stand out to me that we don't often get from queer stories. The main characters don't immediately start out having sex. Most queer stories almost always seem to and that's probably because most real life queer experiences start that way. There's nothing wrong with it but it almost feels new for a queer story to not immediately go that route. The second is the way it so eloquently discusses all these topics about what it's like and what it means to be queer and coming out and the importance of being open and communicating with your partner and your friends. So many times it felt like the show was going to do the cliche thing where one partner would lie to the other or someone would catch characters kissing and out them, but this show took different route. (Sorry. I'll stop here! 🤪 I could talk about the show for hours.)

It feels good to catch up to you guys. SO glad you're reacting to this because I don't know how I would have found out about the show otherwise! I also love Imogen, she reminds me of a friend of a friend who is straight but knows all about the gay media, way more than me, and has awesome recommendations... I want Imogen to become that incredible ally - but not by going out with Ben!!! That's got me worried for her... Alastair what's wrong with Hawaiian pizza? Bieber likes it... I think it was invented in Canada; it's very popular here and I've loved it since I was a kid! What about a Canadian-Hawaiian pizza (which is just ham and pineapple plus bacon!)? We also have Mexican pizza (which is probably an abomination too!) The No Hanky-Panky rule caught me off guard. I guess its nice the parents aren't portraying a double standard but I always thought that parents' motivation in that regard was just trying to avoid dealing with a teenage pregnancy. I know its not appropriate for a young audience, but I would hope teenage boys finding love together should at least try to get pregnant! So I did get super excited last week watching season 1 for the first time and I bought the first book in the series. I'm not that far into it, but you're not missing much - but I mean that in a good way. The graphic novel reads like a storyboard for the tv production. Some panels are drawn exactly that the show as filmed. All around really good. I'm elated this (show and books) exists and I'm telling everyone I know about it.
