Mike

Those characters sheets had me rolling around laughing hysterically. 🤣🤣🤣

Hornet

Renners "Death Follower" seems to be getting pretty high, to the point she even got a more advanced version of the class "Death Worshipper". I wonder if those classes are going to have any impact on the story eventually. And what type of abilities, bonuses, or stat boosts, they give those that have them.

Max Heslip

The character sheets are amazing and the squad is progressing nicely. We got Renner at level 23, Lakyus at 26, Rayne at 21 and Arche at 25. Honestly these levels are really good for any person in the new world, but for human children its crazy, but understandable. Basically these are noobs who are doing their best to grind and get good at a game, but are in the squad of a max level player who is there to take care of them and is probably low key power leveling them. Of course their stats/skills almost certainly aren't as good as if their builds were tailored like in Yggdrasil, but martial arts/talents can help to make up for that and combat isn't everything when life isn't a game although its pretty important in this brutal world. Now to discuss how poor Vulmitar can't catch a break. He runs into ice immunity when he already had to deal with ice resistance his whole life. Then during that he's getting jumped in a 1 v 5 which is already a bad situation to be in. By the way that fight in particular was great and the sneaky plans to deal with the dragons were really well thought out. Back to poor Vulmitar though he gets into a brutal fight that pushes him beyond his limits and the only reason he survives is because he impressed an embodiment of death. Which was really cool and a good touch to show off how this isn't Yggdrasil with situations you wouldn't necessarily see in the game. Loved the chapter and happy your back!

ZeroSenpai Writer

Thanks. Glad you enjoyed the fight, i actually really liked writing it and i feel like it ended up as one of the best i wrote. Also poor Vulmitar almost won as only Leinas was standing by the end, Lin decapitating his bro without much effort really took every remaining fighting spirit out of the poor dragon. Also, yeah, levels are quite high, but their stats are pretty abysmal compared to if they were Players or NPCs.

Max Heslip

Yeah Vulmitar really put everything into that fight and the five weren't slacking either with their teamwork. Don't blame the poor dragon for giving up because at that point he was on his last legs and his stronger brother just got no diffed. Also speaking about players and npcs yeah its hard to compete in combat with them. All new worlders really got are talents (pray you get something useful or your the one in a million who gets something really game changing) or martial arts which more people can learn but very few can truly master especially at higher levels which would need stronger marital arts that simply haven't been developed or the few who have developed high level martial arts die because there not high enough level for their bodies to handle the strain. Like Brain who jumped from around a level 30 to level 40 fighter for a brief instant (I know it was for like one strike and its only 30-40 not like it was 70-80 or anything like that but still that's a ten level jump showing just how much potential martial arts have). Other than that though they be struggling especially since Yggdrasil players/npcs are mainly built for combat with even role playing builds being better made for combat than probably any build in the new world, so its hard to compete. Although there are always a special few like a certain half-elf who is actually a high enough level for other factors (talents/martial arts) to matter.

ZeroSenpai Writer

To be fair that half-elf is also a Godkin, so in a certain way she is just beneath a NPCs in terms of creation genes. No, New Worlder, no matter how blessed by fate, can compete with someone with a Player genome.

Mike

Isn't that certain half elve around lvl 60 in the novel? If so, I kind of wonder her lvl currently.

Max Heslip

That is true even with all her gifts her battle with Mare in the light novel showed the difference between the best the new world can offer (not including true dragon lords) and a high tier npc. Although she didn't go down without a fight. Honestly the fight was quite interesting with Mare being an aoe specialist and not really meant for a 1 v 1 situation, while also being very defensive during their battle. While she if I remember right is level 88 so 12 levels below him and went for the kill almost instantly. The fact is though she did take Mare's strongest attack and survived no matter the circumstances so I gotta give credit where credit is due. Although I kinda wish she faced off against someone a little weaker. I still enjoyed it and seeing her talent in action was really cool and even impressive with how strong it is. If she was level 100 even with her haphazard build that fight would have been a death match. With her having her broken talent and martial arts to help make up for some of the cons of her poor build and Mare not really being built for 1 v 1s in the first place. However in the current setting Mare only had to be moderately serious and only got 100% serious when she revealed her trump cards. Honestly the only being in the new world off the top of my head that I can think of that would actually have a high probability of beating a player/npc in a 1 v 1 is a perfected Cure Elim (if he exists). Imperfect Cure Elim alone would do pretty well against most npcs and players, but world items really are the bane of true dragon lords. Of course we can't really know exactly how strong Cure Elim would be because he was killed by Ainz in the side story/what if with his many weaknesses and has never awakened in the main story where the wiki (I know the wiki is soooo trustworthy) says that the author mentioned that Cure Elim if he is still alive would have gotten rid of some of his weaknesses after 200 years. Thus based on this unconfirmed information I can dream about a perfect Cure Elim, although I'd just be happy if the author of overlord brings him back in any form in the main story. He really was insanely powerful and even if his perfect form is just baloney he would honestly be a challenge for any player or npc. Although world items do make it a good deal easier against any true dragon lord. Wow I ramble a lot when it comes to overlord, but thanks for creating such a good story and taking the time to deal with all the good questions some of us come up with and the not so good (maybe at least a little interesting) rambling of others(me).

Max Heslip

I'm pretty sure she's level 88, but I can't remember if that's from the fandom or if its mentioned in the light novels somewhere. Either way she should be way above level 60 with her putting up a pretty good fight against Mare who is a well crafted level 100. Of course Mare was the clear superior in that fight, but I can't see a level 60 being able to put up any fight against a level 100 and some of the stuff that half elf pulls out is really crazy. Although that's a real good question because thinking about it I can't remember if its ever stated what her level was by the author, but it has to be at least 80+ with her feats being impossible for anyone below that.

ZeroSenpai Writer

Yes, she is level 88, we got her character sheet. Also, if you feel like discussing stuff or talking in general, the general chat is open to all Patrons.

Max Heslip

Chat is a good place for rambling thanks for telling me. Also glad to know my brain wasn't too confused its been a bit since I read the light novels and I've dived too deep into the wiki, watched too many overlord theory/explained videos, and read too many fanfics to always remember what is canon or not.

Gustavo Armas

I'd have to disagree on the levels. A normal person is capped at 15. While the kids are geniuses, it's still a tad on the high side. Heck they are pretty much adamantite level. I'd say give them a bit more time before raising their levels so much.

ZeroSenpai Writer

Those levels are not meant to be taken seriously, it is just to give an idea of the path they are taking on their builds

Max Heslip

Yeah they are really cool and give a good sense on the paths the young ones are taking. However another explanation other than them just being for fun are those death class levels which they presumably get from following Satoru. If we take those levels out Renner would be level 14, Lakyus 21, Rayne 16, and Arche at 20. Still high, but noticeably lower. What holds back people from leveling up in the new world is of course potential and not grinding experience. Most humans have low potential and only grind levels in common skills/classes like cleaning or cooking. These types of activities aren't good experience sources with killing/fighting being the best way to gain experience based on common game rules. The few who are experienced warriors who have fought for decades have grinded a lot, but their low potential limits any gains they have made. Even humans or other races with a good bit of potential are limited by their life span that only allows high experience acquisition between a person's mid teens to late thirties because of them being in their prime or close to it. This is where those with high potential have a huge advantage by gaining experience at a younger age and continuing their prime longer into their lives. With long lived races having more potential and a longer time to commit on said potential explaining the gap between humans and stronger races. Going back to the young ones. For Renner she is a genius and has tons of potential and is constantly grinding her actress, genius and princess classes by just being herself and doing Renner things (scheming). Lakyus is super talented and there's that unconfirmed theory she is a descendent of one of the thirteen heroes (the wielder of those 4 mystic blades the dark knight I think? or something like that). With her training with the best humans really have to offer (Brain and Gazef) she's grinding out her combat levels and actually has the talent for that to affect her levels drastically. Rayne is just built different and must be a magical prodigy of the highest caliber because he really must have crazy talent and be working 100% every day to reach such a high level so fast after being sick for so long. Or that gift Satoru gave him has been helping out a good bit probably both to be honest, but I like Rayne a lot and want to give him more credit. Arche's level makes perfect sense since a young age she's been training and is really talented and has an actual magical talent to help her out. Also that gift from Satoru probably has helped a good bit. RIP poor Lakyus getting no experience boosting gear, but Satoru is just testing it with his apprentices so she'll have to wait for a chance to get that sweet sweet experience boost. Honestly its those special death levels that are boosting these young ones levels so high and I have no clue what they do or what bonuses they give however I'm excited to learn about them if there brought up in the future and I'll just ponder about them if not. Seeing how much the young one's follow Satoru and consider him a teacher/almost a parental figure(cool uncle Satoru hopes) in some cases it explains why they leveled up so quickly in that class because since the moment they met him he's been leading/teaching them a lot. I know these are just meant to be fun and not meant to be taken at 100% face value. Don't need you stressing about the exact level characters should be rather than writing what you like, but just wanted to make clear that the levels you put down are possible and explainable through your story and overlord as a whole. Love how funny they are by the way and there a great addition to the fanfic even if you never bring up their levels in the actual story at all.

ZeroSenpai Writer

A very in depth analysis i would say, and mostly accurate, if i had to seriously think about their actual level i would indeed take out the Death classes and i think those would be approximately their levels. And it is not much me bringing them up in the story as it is mostly the events in the story inspiring those characters' sheets.

Max Heslip

Yeah you can't be no scrub (low level) when fighting a frost dragon. No matter the cheats(ice immunity) and jumping (5 v 1) the poor dude.

ZeroSenpai Writer

Yeah, if there is something really OP about dragons, it is their insane stats compared to their level. Vulmitar being jumped 5 on 1, with his speciality (Frost Breath) negated, only capable of using physical strength (his weak stat), his weakness (fire) being used against him, was still about to win due to the insane stats (as his level isn't high at all). It is still kinda wild.

Max Heslip

Your right, Dragons really be crazy. Their stats alone are enough to make them a strong race, but add in built in flight/breath attack and an outrageously long lifespan makes them even more broken.

Bao Phuc Nguyen

Well someone said about the level problem in character sheet already. I would say this chapter is good, a glimpse of massacre for those dragons. I mean they are not even true Dragon Lord, plus they cannot even break Satoru natural defense.
