"The Holy Kingdom..." WHAT?! WHAT HAPPENED NEXT?! WHAT HAPPENED NEXT?!

Mike

Brain has terrible luck with women.

Anon7274

Just to clarify, have these past chapters been the time skip from when Lakyus formed her adventure team, or is there going to be one next chapter that says

anon

Honestly as scummy as what Drau is pulling is, i cant help but resect it. her entire Populus is literally being eaten alive, and when push came to shove she did what she felt she had to to protect them

Bob the builder

Naw, I can't agree with drau. Brain was honest since the beginning about not caring and his visit for training, in a sense he and the adventures are like aid from another country. As the queen she should have been seeking ways to strengthen her country with the time the aid gave her. It would be dumb for a ruler to assume the aid could never be taken back at any movement. Ps. Pretty brian at this point can't just kill his way out, but this seems like ainz is going to have to come and slap a bitch in his stead.

Wow this chapter was great! The brain stuff was the most shocking, but the holy kingdom hint was interesting as well. Hmmm trying to think of anything from canon going on right now, but can't think of anything. So either I'm forgetting something or the butterfly effect is already reeking havoc on the timeline. Poor Rayne though. He's already getting the from two different worlds treatment(from himself). Although if he can get strong enough rules start to bend quite a bit. A 5th caster especially is worth far more than any noble. However no matter how much I believe in him reaching that level in time(he doesn't got a lot of it) seems well.... not to doubt him, but unlikely. He gonna need to find another way or just start grinding like a madman. That exp booster needs to start doing some heavy lifting since he and Arche are reaching the higher levels, which is gonna take quite a bit more exp then before. The Brain bit though was so well done. Goes to show that even raw power isn't the only type of power in this world. For all of Brain's strength his intellect/wisdom failed him and he got put in a situation he couldn't/shouldn't refuse. In the end his own arrogance and his own belief in himself came back to bite him. The dragon queen played her cards well and although one can't consider her a standard good person, she definitely is a good queen. Doing whatever she needs to do to protect her people. Knowing that even if she could replace Brain with several extra teams of adventures he's become a symbol so if he just disappeared morale would drop and more of her people would die. Gotta respect how she won in her own way, a game of wits rather than strength. Also the theocracy bit and seeing how bored a certain half-elf is without the chaotic group was a nice bonus as well. Also one last thing. Seeing how Renner's sister thought about her and Satoru's relationship was one of the funniest bits of the chapter. She'll grow out of it. Hmmm for some strange reason I doubt that. Don't know why. Well thanks for the chapter!

As to what may be going on in the holy kingdom, without demiurge in this timeline to keep the local population in check for his “happy farm”, the beast men from the abellion hills may be preparing for war, and this time Nazarick won’t be there to control the herds and stage a fake war. Zero senpai did say the theocracy would be playing a part in the upcoming arc. Perhaps Satoru will respond and help the holy kingdom, both meeting Neia and members of the black scripture seeing his power first hand. I’m really interested for the day PDL meets Satoru and how interaction would play out, maybe going to the floating city soon after the holy kingdom.

ZeroSenpai Writer

Yes, the whole time skip is little more than a year, the events in the last 5 chapters are all events that happened during the year

Max Heslip

Ohh wait I completely forgot that the holy kingdom had its own beastmen problem. Thanks for the reminder. Also a war in the holy kingdom may disrupt trade throughout the region and with it being so divided already it would struggle to repel a full on beastmen invasion. Not sure how the theocracy would respond, but if your on point they may be very active very soon. It would be cool, but not sure about what they'd decide to do. Also I completely agree on the PDL stuff. Its funny that an ancient dragon acts so much like the Bone Daddy in quite a few ways. Both are super careful/some would say paranoid and both like to stay back and observe their opponents. That's also why even if PDL isn't the strongest dragonlord on the planet he definitely is the most careful making him arguably the most dangerous being to players in the new world. He's not going to rush in blindly, but wait/observe and since most players don't hold much back at all he can gather as much intelligence as he wants and then strike when the opportunity presents itself. Sounds a bit like a certain overlord, but yeah seeing them meeting would be cool. However might be a bit since neither seems like they'd meet a powerful unknown right now face to face unless they had too. Maybe armor PDL though who knows.

Anon7274

Trade disruption may be why Satoru responds, cause it would infringe on his business. He is already open to international trade give his work in the empire and dwarf kingdom. I think the new sunlight scripture may respond since they are good at fighting demihumans and the black scripture for strong demi human kings. Also this chapter stated the events with Clementine are beginning, meaning the black scripture will have to respond to the awakening of the catastrophe dragon lord and Shalltear isn’t there to stop it. That may we where this is heading.

Hahaha brain so both lucky and Unlucky I wonder if Rayne will get Satoru to help him and Arch to get married ?

Max Heslip

Catastrophe dragon lord. Won't lie completely forgot that was an entire plot point. To my knowledge his revival has never been confirmed, but with all the chaos going on in canon can't blame the theocracy for being busy. I wonder what type of dragon lord he is. It was never mentioned I think if he was a true dragon lord or false one. Of course he sounds strong and the black scripture plus a world item was sent to take care of him implying just how much of a threat he is. However that brings up the question of whether a world item can affect a wild magic user since the theocracy doesn't seem to think theirs in enough to take care of PDL. However that might be a misconception on their part since PDL should have his own world item, which would mean wild magic users aren't immune, but PDL is because of his item. Or he's so strong they don't even think they'd be fast enough to use their world item (although that seems unlikely since a certain half elf and captain can hold back even guardian tier opponents long enough for downfall of castle and country to take effect) . I really hope the canon confirms whether true dragon lords are actually immune, but knowing Overlord I'd be surprised if its the case. New world doesn't get buffs so probably just PDL's world item. Wait what am I talking about the fact that the new world true dragon lords were affected so much by whatever the greed kings did to the magic system implies that world items work on them. Well kinda just answered my own question hmmm. Of course their is still the possibility that the item messed with the world and not the dragon lords directly thus only affecting them indirectly, but who knows. Well at least this means that PDL is much more likely using a world item then any wild magic shenanigans.

ZeroSenpai Writer

To my knowledge League Astrologer was the one who mistakenly proclaimed the return of CDL after being blocked from witnessing Ainz take down SS. Unfortunately we still have no idea if WCI work against True Dragon Lords. Though you brought up one of the main points i dislike about Overlord which irked me since Vol 14, Wild Magic not being able to affect WCI users, the most powerful weapon of the NW just nullified like that seems like a huge waste and it takes away any tension of seeing the Top Tier of the NW going against the Top Tier of Nazarick. It also kinda invalidates the stakes in the bonus volume where Satoru took out ECDL who had a one-shot ability, too bad it would not have worked due to that bs narrative choice Maru took.

Max Heslip

I see some of it is coming back to me, but won't lie stuff from the early volumes can be so vague in my mind sometimes. Yeah wild magic not working on world item holders does take away from any resistance or interesting conflict the new world can offer in canon. Although part of me wonder if he made wild magic too broken and then hastily fixed the issue by saying world items cancel it out because wild magic really can do some outrageous stuff. Which sadly we probably won't get to see since it will basically be useless in canon. Also poor ECDL. At least he can use some tier magic, but that moment where he slaughters Ainz's summons really was a true glimpse at what wild magic can really do.

Anon7274

The way I see it WCI don’t use mana similar to super tier magic, and wild magic uses souls to create spells that have similar effects to world items such as creating pocket dimensions like in the fight from volume 14. Souls can translate over to using exp making don’t power possible. I think it works both ways where WCI don’t work on wild magic users at least to a certain extent. Remember the dragon emperor using his wild magic, while not confirmed that’s how he did it, to bring players to the new world despite having those items themselves. Also how the eight greed kings used a world item themselves to change the new world magic system, even affecting future generations of wild magic users. Both these powers can essentially affect existence itself and can grant those immunities, although to a certain extent. I think the true fight between Ainz and PDL would be interesting if they bring both of their true arsenals to bear. In this story, I wonder what kind of implications world items and wild magic would have and influence each others opinions on the other. I’m just really excited for them to meet in the main story and this one. Good job on your story zero to bring overlord fans together to think this in depth.

Timeslinger62

I’m of the opinion that world items can’t effect users of wild magic just as wild magic can’t effect world item users, if this is true this implies the catastrophe dragon lord might not have been a true dragon lord. I agree that eight greed kings used a world item to change the magic system of the new world which allowes natives of the new world to use tier magic, this also effected futures generations of dragons as now new born dragons won’t be able to cast wild magic. I know from the wiki at least that Argland council state is one of few places wild magic is still practiced though I’m unsure if that’s was from light novel or web novel Also in the web novel is said that Argland has four adventure teams with strength on par with blue rose, this implies that they have possibly four adamantine adventurer teams or possibly 1 or 2 and the rest of orichalcum since they probably all made up of Demi humans who have physical advantages over human adventurers.

Max Heslip

Yeah this story is amazing in many ways. Your mention of PDL's arsenal is something I've thought about quite a bit. He literally is sitting in the former guildbase of 8 players and an unknown amount of npc's. Who knows how much loot and artifacts he has access too. If Nazarick wasn't a top tier guild I'd say originally the 8 greed kings would have had more loot then even them just based on the fact that they had presumably many more players with their own personal inventories. However now of course a lot of the loot has been scattered across the new world, but even then PDL must have a crazy stash, which in this story would be the biggest loot pile in the world. By the way your wild magic theories are really fascinating and would explain quite a few things. I just hope we actually get an answer one of these days.

Timeslinger62

Now that you bring up npc’s of the 8 greed kings, depending on how they where written in their backstories and the races they where they might have died of old age or the greed kings ran out of Yggdrasil gold to revive them. Remember the 8 greed kings arrived 500 years in the new world. If they as fanatical as narzarick npc’s they wouldn’t let PDL use their masters guild base. And since one of eight greed kings was a elf and it’s likely that the other greed kings where humanoid races to and probably had humanoid Npc’s, the npc’s that might be still are the POP npc’s that spawn from the guild base automatically and only are level 30 at max.

Anon7274

I thought it was said the dragon lord killed off the greed kings after they betrayed each other. Also wasn’t it speculated the evil deities the 13 heroes faced were npc’s of the greed kings?

Anon7274

Also, here’s a really whiled theory for both this story and the main one. What is Satoru took over the floating city? He does currently have the throne of kings in his arsenal. What if he took over the guild base and gained admin privileges? Would he be able to create new npc’s, gain access to the greed kings treasury including the nameless spell book, or could he even gain access to his old treasury including the world items in there.

Lol Zed

For some reason I'm actually looking forward to possibly seeing Remedios in the coming arcs, since ainz isn't known as an undead I feel like she could possibly be more like a funny idiotic paladin instead of the annoying undead hater. Perhaps even some screen time for her sister, and hopefully a better ending than in Canon.

Anon7274

Don’t forget about Calca, hopefully no “Holy Mace” in this story.

Max Heslip

Won't lie it is a cool theory. It might even have a chance of working if they were still in YGGDRASIL. However although many game rules apply the new world is still an actual physical reality. Thus unless the treasury is in the new world I can't see how even taking over a guild base would change anything in the context of accessing nazarick's treasury. Especially since I doubt even in the game that you could access your treasury from another guild base, although I won't say it was impossible in the game world. Taking over the greed king's base though should be doable, but I have no clue on if he could actually make npcs or not. Since in canon nazarick already maxed out their npc levels so its not really explored in the new world. The question becomes then whether data crystal are still useable in the new world(anyone remember an example from canon)(they are right my mind isn't going crazy) and whether the process of shaping data is still ingrained in players. If both of those questions are yes then there's a chance with a guild base and enough data crystal npcs could be made. Even then though I'm not sure. Of course we don't know how expensive npcs are, but high level ones(70+) were probably crazy expensive since YGGDRASIL had quite a bit of grinding in it. So not many could probably be made especially since a lot of data crystal from past players were either probably used up over time or just scattered everywhere with no way to replenish them. Super interesting idea to think about though. However we both know that Satoru in this time line and the canon one isn't the type to charge the enemy's bastion any time soon if ever. Who knows though maybe circumstances force his hand or a little princess wants a floating capital. You never know what's in the future even the most unlikely stuff have a tiny chance of coming true.

Erza Scarlet

Seeing as how we might see a potential Satoru v PDL scenario, does he still have access to things he used in cannon and the Keno side story like the Staff of Ainz Oawl Gown and anti-dragon gear from the ECDL fight or the quick change sticks he used against Shalltear to get the other players gear?

Max Heslip

Well so far we know for sure he has the staff from the first few chapters, but not sure about the other stuff. If he had it in the side story then there's a good chance he has it in this story, but anything else I have no clue. He definitely doesn't have the other players (main) gear though since we know from canon that their still on the golems or manikins back in Nazarick. The actual quick change sticks though are unknown.

Bao Phuc Nguyen

Alysanne's opinion on Satoru is very observant and astute. But she would get better luck with other things than laying with Satoru hahaha. And Brain the man is again having bad luck with woman (Shaltear in canon and Dragon Queen this story). Still his drive to become stronger is admirable despite human weakness. Next is Holy Kingdom, I wonder what's wrong in that Kingdom now that make Antilene widen her eyes ? I remember in the LN this Kingdom is on the brink of civil war already, since Queen Calca is not welcome by the south nobles.
