strategically speaking i'd say he's pulling a fast one again and known enough about strategy by now to realize he should pretend to be out of commission to catch the enemy of guard, but he doesn't really care for the war and Renner would definitely have been informed (altho i don't doubt her acting ability to play the part of a heartbroken maided). So my wild out there guess is that he's actually away investigating Ijaniya, renner is of course aware and just acting and that he'll make a dramatic appearance during the war but not be there from the very beginning (because he sure does love his dramatic entrances).

Renners' reaction is certainly interesting because I don't think she is acting. I think if she were actually acting, then she would have chosen a very different reaction, like openly crying or something, rather than just completely shutting down like she did. My guess is that she actually has no clue where Satoru is and she does not know if he is alive or dead. This has very interesting implications since this implies that whatever Satoru is doing, he chose not to tell Renner. This leaves a couple of scenarios to explain what is going on. All of them, though, revolve around the idea that Satoru probably came up with this on the fly. My guess is that Satoru was attacked by the assassin, then, after planting that one down several blocks, realized that this was a good opportunity for him. He obviously does not want to participate in this war since it could result in him showing too much of his power to his enemies to possibly use against him. he also has never experienced leading an army before, so that would be a whole can of worms he probably does not want to touch. So he might have relise right after the assassination attempt, "hey if I disapear with there being clear signs around me with the two dead assassin that somebody tried to kill me then that would be a valid excuse for me not to participate in the war beceas people would think with my disappearance that I am either dead or to injured to show myself". With that, he decided to teleport out and disappear for a time. Now, there are a couple of things he could be doing. One is that he could be in the Abelion Hills running interference for the marching army and is doing stuff to keep the demihumans busy, distracted, or making a deal with them not to attack the Re-estizes' army. Second, he could be either perniciously or accidentally concurring demihuman tribes, then he will lead them as a united army to fight alongside the Re-estize army. I can imagine the holy kingdom shiting brick upon seeing demihuman fighting along side Re-estys army. Another option, which I think would be the most funniest, would be if Satoru is realized the reason he is always so stresed on vacation is thank to Renner so dicide to use this opportunity to go on a vacation without Renner to the Abelion hill to go on his own adventure that will inevitably end with him conquering them. My reasoning is that he commented himself during the dwarf arc that if he did not have Renner with him, he would have immediately gotten involved with saving the dwarfs since it reminded him so much of a quest he would to in Yedrasil. So if he disappeared and did not inform Rennner where he went, then we would be free to goof off and satisfy his own desires and have fun in the Abelion hills.
