TWTS: Q & A 1 (Patreon)
Content
Hi dear readers, i have pondered for a while if i wanted to do one of these, but i think it would be beneficial since certain questions are asked frequently both here and on FFN. So i thought creating a FAQ post could help clear some water on some matters. (Might do some in the future if other questions become frequent).
Q: Will Satoru ever have a human body?
A: No, apart from illusion magic (which he already uses to make it feel like he has one under his robes), he will never have an actual human body in this story. This is for multiple reason. First, and most important, what makes Satoru himself is his Emotional Suppression which plays a big role in him being the character he is both here and in canon. Secondarily, it serves him no purpose, it would even be risky as he may lose some or all his undead traits that play a big role in his build and power. I am also pretty sure he wouldn't be able to do so even with Wish Upon a Star, and even if he could, as i said the risk would not be worth it.
Q: Isn't letting Arche and Rayne develop random skills ruin their builds?
A: Not really, from my understanding Job Classes can only be aquired in three ways. 1) Developing that skill as it is your job, meaning doing that outside of necessity and extremely often. (as an example, someone cooking for themselves everyday will not get a cooking class, otherwise 90% of humanity would have levels in that, meanwhile someone working at a tavern would prepare tens of meals per day and that might give them the class in the long run), studying also helps a lot, like in the case of magic. 2) Being recognized in society with a title, like most rulers in the NW, if you are recognized as a King or Emperor and keep doing your job for some time, you most probably will get the class. 3) Meeting certain requirements, like Leinas getting the Cursed Knight class after fulfilling the requirement of being cursed in the first place. So, in Arche and Rayne's case, they just do tasks for themselves and Rayne, who knows how to sew, does it not regularly and just in certain occasions.
Q: Why all the focus on Lakyus?
A: I think a big part of Overlord's charm is in its secondary characters (the NW ones especially), and also, Lakyus development did not happen alone, Renner grew a lot from that experience too. For the first time she had been forced to be confronted by someone she cared about not acting on logic and just out of a personal desire she could not understand. Renner is a very rigid character to bend even in the slightest due to her extremely logical mind, so the shift was not extremely visible at first, but that expereince what Lakyus is what allowed her to understand others better, and the reason why she managed to catch on something going on between Satoru and Alysanne (even if one sided) and, most importantly, let her understand Raeven's shift and use it to manipulate him, after all, Renner before Azerlisia would have never realized the huge shift in Raeven's agenda as it was completely illogical for her mind and an absurdity for someone she consdiered smart, yet, with Lakyus she learnt to never assume everyone around her would behave logically and how much emotions and desires cna shift in the most illogical of ways. Also, Lakyus is one of the most, if not the most, important secondary characters in the story and needs her fair share of development as she is sitll quite young.
Q: Why is Satoru a wimp?
A: I don't get this very often now, but i see someone asking me this from time to time. Honestly, i don't want to be rude, but my only answer to this is that you probably never understood canon Ainz' personality.I could understand it from an anime only since LN adds a lot of internal dialogue that is skipped in the anime. But yeah, Satoru (or Ainz if you prefer) is not really that mighty Overlord, he is just an average dude who is smart in some areas and has a bag of trauma as big as Gargantua.
Q: Does Satoru love Renner?
A: Yes, even tho not in the way most probably intended when asking the question. He sees her as somene similar to himself, socially awkward, friendless, and with a complicated family, he admires her drive to become better (even though he doesn't realize she is doing it for him), and considers her very smart, a characteristic he very much values, he knows she is a bit crazy but has no idea of how deep that abyss goes. Take in account he is still convinced she has the good of the kingdom at heart, and is not just acting selfishly crushing everyone in her way.
Q: Will Nazarick arrive?
A: For this, i have a question of my own, would you like it to arrive? Apart from the comedic side of things, would you want them to arrive? (This is not a poll, i already have a definitive answer i will not say as it would be spoilers, but i am curious to hear your own answer to this)
